Having the microphones were crucial this year because my students had to read into them to check their ongoing reading fluency progress weekly. The headphones made testing a lot more manageable because I wasn't having to spread students far out to have them test because the headphones provided silence and created less distractions during the test itself. The headphones were beneficial to all of my students, but they especially helped my multilingual students and my students with special needs. My students even used the headphones to minimize noise during MAP testing even though most of my students have to read their own test, they still asked for the headphones to wear as a comfort item. Being able to update the library baskets has been huge because it allows me to color coordinate by genre, fiction versus non-fiction, and then because social studies is such a huge part of 5th Grade.
