It was such a fun and unexpected way to celebrate students for simply showing up and doing their best. We already have students asking when the Bubble Surprise Attendance Day will happen again! I especially loved that it was a non-food reward that still brought so much excitement and joy to their day.\r\n\r\nThe prizes for our treasure box have also been incredibly motivating. As a reading interventionist, I work closely with struggling readers, and having engaging incentives makes such a difference. The little squishies and stuffed animal key chains were especially popular—students left our sessions smiling from ear to ear. We have been researching different layers of the rainforest, studying the animals that live there, and writing short informational pieces about what we are learning. These new materials will help students make an even stronger connection to the unit. I know they will be thrilled when they see them.\r\n\r\nWe are getting ready for our next big step in the unit. Students will soon create a mini museum exhibit where they will teach others about a rainforest animal and its role in the ecosystem. The animal figures will make this project feel even more real and hands-on.
