In this presentation, they defend how they have mastered the success skills needed in middle school and how they are ready for high school. Each student shares an artifact that has been comleted in middle school on the following topics: Prepared and Resilient Learner, Productive Collaborator, Emerging Innovator, Effective Communicator, and Globally & Culturally Competent Citizen. \r\n\r\nThe students worked for months to select artifacts for each success skill. Upon the completion of their presentation, because of your generosity and donation, students were rewarded with treats. The students were all very thankful for their treat bags.","fullyFundedDate":1776441552372,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-reward-our-successful-8th-grader/10090780/","projectTitle":"Help Us Reward Our Successful 8th Graders.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hargrave","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10403149"},{"teacherId":4821830,"projectId":10043950,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, we are continuing to build routines around these resources. Our next steps include integrating structured \"reset and return\" strategies into daily classroom practices and helping students reflect on what tools work best for them. We are also incorporating brief check-ins and goal-setting activities so students can connect their emotional well-being to their academic success.\r\n\r\nOur new resources have already made a meaningful impact in our classroom. We've created a designated \"reset space\" where students can take a short break when they are feeling overwhelmed. This space includes LEGO materials, fidget tools, and calming items that allow students to refocus and regulate their emotions before returning to learning. One powerful moment came when a student who was visibly frustrated chose to step into the space, spent a few minutes building with LEGO, and then returned to class ready to participate again. That kind of self-awareness and recovery is exactly what we hoped to support.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the snacks have played an important role in supporting student well-being throughout the day. For many students, having access to a quick snack has helped improve focus, energy, and overall mood, especially during longer class periods.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped us create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Thank you for investing not just in their academic growth but also in their well-being.","fullyFundedDate":1769022503025,"projectUrl":"project/support-our-students-mental-wellness/10043950/","projectTitle":"Support Our Students' Mental Wellness!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bruce","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4821830_orig.jpg?crop=904,904,x0,y21&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768245437432","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4821830"},{"teacherId":2465686,"projectId":10009113,"letterContent":"With your generous donations I was able to add diverse books into my library collection. I have photos of students holding the new book while they are wearing fake moustaches for our. \" I Moustache You to Read\" display. The Ipads arrived very quickly and I was thrilled to start putting them to use.\r\n\r\nStudents sometimes leave class very upset and because of a language barrier, I am not able to ascertain what problem they are having. Being able to use the ipad as a translation tool has been amazing. The kids are much more comfortable speaking with me when they don't have to also share with a translator who is a stranger.\r\n\r\nWe also have a variety of students who have breaks listed in their 504, because that has been known to be helpful with ADHD or anxiety. When these students come to the office for a break, the Ipads allow them to keep up with the work that is going on in their classroom because they can access their google classroom using the Ipad.\r\n\r\nLastly, students sometimes spend time in the counseling suite while they are waiting for the assistant principal to follow through with a behavioral incident. Having the Ipads allows the students to make good use of their time, instead of sleeping or sitting idly. Now students can complete work on IXL while they wait, so we really are getting the most instructional minutes into each day.\r\n\r\nMy team and our kiddos are extremely grateful for your generous donation!","fullyFundedDate":1768242052438,"projectUrl":"project/overcoming-communication-obstacles-with/10007127/","projectTitle":"Overcoming Communication Obstacles With Technology","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Barnes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2373494"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_58293","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":640,"numTeachers":49,"percentFrplEligible":60,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":29,"percentWhite":45,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":90.0,"schoolId":58293,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Highland Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Highland Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/jefferson-county-public-schools/highland-middle-school/58293"}
