One standout moment happened during a recent math lesson on composing and decomposing numbers. Students used the linking cubes to physically build numbers and then break them apart in different ways. Watching them see the math instead of just hearing about it made a huge difference. One student even said, \"Ohhh, I get it now!\"—the kind of moment every teacher hopes for.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were instantly hooked. There were lots of \"Are those for us?!\" and \"When can we use them?\" The hands-on aspect made math feel more like play, and even my more reluctant learners were eager to jump in and participate.\r\n\r\nNext, we're using these tools to deepen our understanding of addition and subtraction strategies. Students will begin using the two-color counters to model problem-solving and explain their thinking, and the bingo chips will help us work on grouping and place value concepts. I'm also starting to see students naturally reach for these tools when they need support, which is a huge step toward building independence and confidence.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make math more meaningful, engaging, and accessible for my students. Your generosity is truly impacting the way they learn every day.","fullyFundedDate":1769177755704,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-math-toolkits-for-first-grade-t/9750158/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Math Toolkits for First Grade Thinkers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hettinger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7814590"},{"teacherId":10336070,"projectId":9865324,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. The sound panels have made more of an impact than we anticipated! The panels in the bathroom absorb echoes, making a more welcoming environment for our students who are sensitive to sound. They also add a very calming blue color that seems to help some of our more anxious students use the restroom more independently. \r\nThe panels in our quiet sensory area reduce eye strain and echoes. They also add a wall texture feature where the students can reach. We have had multiple students utilize this space for the first time ever since installing the panels, and they are now using the space regularly! This was such a welcomed surprise, and we cannot thank you enough for your support in teaching our students about self-regulation, safety, and becoming more independent.","fullyFundedDate":1769177755587,"projectUrl":"project/calm-the-noise/9865324/","projectTitle":"Calm the Noise","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stoltz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10336070_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y272&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761772279462","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10336070"},{"teacherId":741816,"projectId":10017666,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your generous contribution of PBIS rewards for my 5th grade classroom. My music program has grown tremendously over the years because of outside support like Donors Choose. \r\n\r\nI acquired the class set of ukuleles about seven years ago from a Kala giveaway.
