Have you ever tried teaching elementary students in a Google Meet? With the one small laptop monitor I have, it is quite difficult. If I'm using my document camera (my cell phone on a homemade stand) to model problems, I can't see any of my students. It's difficult to see if they have a question or if they are even paying attention to the lesson. The larger models are ideal as well, as they will allow me to see the students better when I have 50 plus students in a Meet. Having two monitors will make these tasks possible.
The two monitors will be used for teaching students online while they are at home. I will be able to monitor the students (Google Meet or Zoom) and still have access to another monitor to allow me to use the document camera as a whiteboard for instruction. If I am able to see my students on one monitor while using the other monitor as my whiteboard, I will be able to keep track of my students so much more. If they raise their hand (physically or digitally), I will be more aware. I will be able to see my students' faces the whole time too. That is very helpful to me, as it allows me to see their expressions. Many times students will not verbally ask for assistance, so it's important to see them for cues that they are confused and/or need help.
Teaching in a non-traditional format is challenging. If I'm able to use two I will be able to see and interact with my students more while still instructing them. I really hope Donors Choose can help! Thank you for your time and consideration.
