We've been utilizing the supplies by discussing many different social scenarios they see at their age and even preparing them for the next stage of middle school. Reading makes better students. The more they read the better their phonemic skills and sight word skills increase. Finding books with high interest levels for young children can be challenging, but the Rooted with Reading program has a variety. The books include fiction and nonfiction selections.\r\n This program includes read alouds which we do as a large group and then individual activities that can be used along with the theme of the book. Rooted in Reading addresses comprehension and grammar skills along with assessments that can be used to show strengths and areas of growth for each child.\r\n Since many of our students do not have good literature at home; these books expose them to different types of books. They get to have the book read aloud and then can retell or read the story to another student. Some of my students are reading and others are not quite there yet. They can partner and share the book with a child that is reading thus encouraging the other child to enjoy the book also.\r\n Thank you again for donating to our classroom and helping our students become better readers and develop a love for literature!","fullyFundedDate":1737649156966,"projectUrl":"project/lets-get-rooted-in-reading/9042122/","projectTitle":"Let's Get Rooted in Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Woods","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3782538_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x467,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724625470498","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3782538"},{"teacherId":3782538,"projectId":8699255,"letterContent":"The children in my kindergarten class were so excited to see and use the new hands on materials. The students were excited to see new materials at the centers every few days. This gave them the opportunity to explore the new materials and learn how to use them independently or with partners. \r\n\r\nWe now use the materials daily for extra fine motor practice. They have also been great to use during indoor recess!
