Because of your generosity, my students now have access to exciting new resources that are helping them explore how solar energy works — not just in theory, but in real, hands-on ways.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were amazed. Many had never seen or touched actual solar panels before, and their eyes lit up when they realized they'd be doing experiments like real scientists and engineers. One student even said, \"Wait, we get to build with these? That's so cool — I thought this was only in big labs!\"\r\n\r\nWe're currently reviewing energy basics and building our background knowledge, but in just a few weeks, we'll begin our solar investigations. Students will use the solar kits you helped provide to test how light intensity, angle, and surface type affect solar panel performance. They'll record data, analyze their results, and make connections to real-world energy solutions — all while thinking critically like young engineers.\r\n\r\nYour support hasn't just brought tools into our classroom — it's brought curiosity, confidence, and future possibilities.\r\n\r\nWe can't wait to share pictures and updates from our upcoming projects next month!","fullyFundedDate":1755910887754,"projectUrl":"project/bright-minds-brighter-future-investiga/9632032/","projectTitle":"Bright Minds, Brighter Future: Investigating Solar Energy in Our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rollan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8430088"},{"teacherId":6435445,"projectId":9499584,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to support my Freshman Supply Closet through DonorsChoose. Your kindness has made a real, tangible difference in my classroom, and I wanted to share just a few of the ways your support has impacted my students.\r\n\r\nFirst off—those tiny pencil sharpeners? A huge hit. You would've thought they were the coolest gadgets ever invented! The students were so excited to have their own sharpeners to keep in their backpacks, and it's made a big difference in helping them feel prepared and self-sufficient throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nAnother favorite: the sensory stickers! I stuck them right on students' desks, and they've quickly become a part of our classroom routine. Many students are now in the habit of taking notes with one hand while fidgeting with the sticker using the other. It's been amazing to see how something so small can help them stay focused.\r\n\r\nI also received supplies for a calming corner, which is something I've always wanted to implement but never had the resources for—until now. I'm currently working with our school's social workers and restorative justice coordinator to thoughtfully launch this space. It's my first time having a calming corner, and I'm excited about what it will offer my students in terms of emotional regulation and mental wellness.\r\n\r\nOh—and I can't forget the scented markers! I've been using them when I check off students' notes, and it's brought so much joy to the classroom. Every time I return their work, there's a round of sniffing as they try to guess which scent I used that day. It's a silly little moment that brings smiles and laughter, and that kind of joy is so needed in a high school setting.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students feel more supported, more engaged, and more cared for. Thank you for investing in their success and in the kind of classroom where they can feel safe, prepared, and excited to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1757518405705,"projectUrl":"project/supply-closet-calming-corner/9499584/","projectTitle":"Supply Closet & Calming Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Byrd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6435445_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753432760004","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/emmambyrd"},{"teacherId":8430088,"projectId":9411058,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our students now have access to essential materials like scissors, colors, calculators, lotion, tissues, lavender oil, and other basic supplies that are making a real difference in the classroom. Thanks to your donations, our incoming freshmen were able to start the school year fully equipped with the essential supplies they needed to succeed in all of their classes. From notebooks and pens to folders and notebooks, these resources made a meaningful difference in helping our students feel prepared and confident. It was heartwarming to see their excitement — some of them immediately sat down to go through the closet, pull out supplies, & organize their backpacks, proudly sorting everything with care and focus.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, your support also brought some much-needed joy and community-building to our students. The card games you helped provide were a huge hit during class breaks and assembly days, giving students a chance to unwind, connect with classmates, and recharge. It's small moments like these that build a welcoming, supportive school environment — and it's all possible because of your kindness.
