My Web Page Design students were able to take their digital photo collages they made for Mother's Day turning into a fully color printed photo collage that each student was able to hand their photo collage to their Mother's as a printed digital product that they created in class. Three young men from my Animation class and one of the young ladies in my Senior Capstone course who worked with a local business to re-design her organizations webpage and redesigning her logo. My 9th grade students began the year with this text for our unit on \"American Voices,\" and we had enough books for each English class to have their own set. The novel is written in vignettes, which are brief, interconnected glimpses into the lives of Esperanza, her family and community. The vignettes are connected, but not sequential like chapters, so the form is usually new for my students. The brevity of each vignette makes it very accessible for new high school freshmen, but each is dense with figurative language and nuanced musings, perfect for close reads and unpacking meaning. The majority of my students are Hispanic and bilingual, and some may also be familiar with the book in its Spanish version. Major themes in the text interrogate the meaning of a home, of community, and what we owe each other. Substituting this text in our \"American Voices\" unit begins the year with students seeing characters with traits and community similar to their own, and representing the diverse makeup of our country. After reading and reflecting on themes from adolescence to culture and community, my students wrote their own narrative vignettes, showcasing brief snapshots of their own lives. On behalf of the students and staff at J.C. Harmon HS, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation. Your support in providing funding for essential school supplies, headphones, whiteboard markers, and snacks has made a significant difference in our learning environment, and we are incredibly thankful for your kindness.\r\n\r\nBecause of your contribution, our students now have access to items that enhance both their academic success and their overall well-being. Something as simple as a set of quality headphones has opened up so many opportunities for our students. In today's classroom, especially with the integration of technology, headphones are a vital learning tool. Whether they're listening to audio lessons, participating in reading programs, or practicing language skills, students are now able to focus more effectively and learn more independently. Your donation helped make that possible.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboard markers you helped provide have also had an immediate and visible impact. Teachers use them every day for instruction, group activities, and interactive lessons. Having a fresh supply of vibrant markers means our classrooms are full of color, clarity, and creativity. It might seem like a small thing, but it's the little tools like these that help lessons come alive and engage students in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nSchool supplies such as notebooks, pencils, folders, and crayons were also purchased thanks to your donation. These basic tools are essential for every student's success, yet not every family has the means to provide them. Your gift helped ensure that every child started the day prepared and confident, with the tools they need to learn and succeed. The smiles on their faces as they unpacked their supplies were absolutely priceless.\r\n\r\nAnd of course, we can't forget to thank you for the snacks. Having healthy snacks available during the school day keeps students energized and focused. For some of our students, this may be the only snack they get all day. Thanks to you, we're able to keep our kids nourished and ready to learn, especially during those long afternoons when energy and attention often begin to fade.\r\n\r\nYour generosity goes beyond the materials you helped provide. It sends a powerful message to our students—that they are seen, valued, and supported by their community. It shows them that there are people out there who care deeply about their future and want to see them thrive. That kind of encouragement means the world, especially to those who may be facing difficult circumstances outside the classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your thoughtfulness and support. Your donation has created a ripple effect that will continue to benefit our students throughout the school year. We are deeply grateful for your partnership in education and your belief in the power of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1723657705672,"projectUrl":"project/lets-erase/8632265/","projectTitle":"Lets Erase!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jennifer Mendez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9650447"},{"teacherId":2323568,"projectId":8624551,"letterContent":"My students' learning has been well-supported by your donation of materials and texts, especially Beloved by Toni Morrison.
