The EXPEN allows me to model problem-solving step by step in real time, highlight key strategies, and correct mistakes immediately as students follow along. This helps students better understand abstract math concepts such as integers, fractions, and equations, while keeping lessons clear and engaging.\r\n\r\nThe technology supports student learning by allowing students to see multiple strategies, revisit saved examples, and stay focused during instruction. Students are especially excited by how interactive and modern the EXPEN feels—math no longer looks static on a board, but instead feels more hands-on and engaging. Many students are more willing to participate and ask questions because they can clearly see each step of the process.\r\n\r\nStudents who struggle with attention, confidence, or processing speed have especially warmed to this new technology. Visual learners and students with learning supports benefit from the clear modeling and pacing, while hesitant learners feel more confident knowing they can follow along and review examples as needed. Overall, the EXPEN has increased student engagement, understanding, and confidence in math.","fullyFundedDate":1760974081108,"projectUrl":"project/touch-teach-and-transform-with-technol/9719987/","projectTitle":"Touch, Teach, and Transform with Technology","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Petersen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10178493_orig.jpg?crop=1598,1598,x0,y37&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758063865077","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10178493"},{"teacherId":7073331,"projectId":9705153,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity donating to my projects and helping me with providing resources that enhance my students' overall learning experience. Your generosity provided our students with the supplies and materials they needed to feel prepared, confident, and ready to learn from day one. We've already put these resources to work—my students have been using the new notebooks, art supplies, and organizational tools in our first major project, where they created personal \"identity pages\" to introduce themselves and set goals for the year. One student proudly told me, \"This is the first time my work actually looks the way I imagined it,\" and that moment truly reminded me how powerful your support is.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials laid out for them, the room erupted with excitement. Several of them immediately began exploring the bins and asking, \"Are these really for us?\" For many, having high-quality supplies isn't something they're used to, and it made a noticeable difference in the level of care, pride, and creativity they brought to their work. Your contribution didn't just provide tools—it gave them a sense of ownership and belonging in a brand-new environment.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these materials will continue to play a crucial role in our lessons. Students will be using their notebooks and organizational tools daily as we build strong routines, and the art and project supplies will support upcoming social studies activities, hands-on learning stations, and collaborative group projects. In our classroom, these tools make a huge difference. Instead of getting stuck on long, stressful calculations, students can focus on understanding the big ideas in math. They get to explore patterns, test out their thinking, and really dive into problem-solving. This technology helps build confidence, reduces frustration, and gives every student—no matter their starting point—an equal chance to succeed.\r\n\r\nMy students are especially excited because the new tools make math feel more approachable and engaging. They love being able to check their work quickly, explore \"what if\" questions, and use activities that make learning feel meaningful and fun. Some of the students who used to shut down during tough computations have really warmed up to this technology. They're participating more, taking risks, and proudly sharing their thinking because the tools help them feel supported and successful.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create a learning environment where students feel confident, curious, and motivated. I am very greatful for the opportunities that I can now provide my students with; thanks to your geneorsity in funding STEM / science related projects. Prior to the safety glasses cabinet that utilizes UV-C light, we had to spray each individual glasses after use with cleaning spray and was highly ineffective & inefficient. It also left behind streaks on the glasses that would lead to further wiping and cleaning of the glasses. Despite having to still wipe finger prints off of the glasses, the cabinet is a much better way to safely sanitize the glasses while also giving the glasses a better organizational location vs. the cardboard box that we previously stored them in.
