These mini microphones have greatly improved how well the student chromebooks pick up their voices. They cancel out the extra noise and capture their speech clearly. Multiple students reported that now it is much easier to talk into the computer when doing voice-to-text. They rarely have to repeat themselves like they did before using the microphones. I have several students who have an accommodation of voice-to-text. This has made it so much easier and quicker for them to complete their writing tasks because the microphones do what they are intended to do. I am so thankful, and so are the students, for these little gadgets. Every year, we manage to go through a couple gallons of vinegar, bottles of glue, bags of sand, and many containers of salt. This makes for lots of fun experiments, but it also means that we have to reach out for help to get what we need since very little funds are allocated for elementary science. \r\nI am grateful that DonorsChoose exists and can help us obtain the supplies we need in a timely manner so that we are not dipping into our own pockets to provide essential materials for our students. Most had only Googled places around the world. Using a hard copy book made a difference in their engagement with locating unfamiliar places. \r\nI found that many of the students continued to look through the colorful atlases after they were finished with their assignments. Their curiosity had been piqued. They discovered the unique names of countries, different bodies of water, and places their families had traveled to on vacation. \r\nIt's been fun to see that spark for new learning!
