Because of you, our students now have access to whiteboards and chalkboards that have completely transformed the way they learn, practice, and engage with new concepts.\r\n\r\nThese tools have given every student a voice. Instead of just a few students raising their hands, all students can now work out problems in real time and show their thinking. During lessons, I'll pose a question, and you can feel the excitement build as students quickly grab their boards, solve the problem, and hold up their answers with pride.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite moments happens during friendly competitions. For example, during math practice, I'll say, \"Boards up when you have the answer!\" Students race to solve the problem correctly, eagerly watching to see who will be the first to hold up the right solution. Cheers erupt when someone gets it right, and even those who don't win stay engaged because they can immediately see what they need to improve. These moments have turned practice into motivation and learning into fun.\r\n\r\nThe chalkboards and whiteboards have also helped students feel more confident. Making a mistake on a board feels safe—students can erase, fix, and try again without fear. This has encouraged risk-taking, perseverance, and deeper understanding across all subject areas.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made a lasting impact on our classroom community. Thank you for believing in our students and helping create an environment where learning is active, joyful, and inclusive. We are incredibly grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1759435415832,"projectUrl":"project/bring-math-to-life-with-whiteboards-and/9677258/","projectTitle":"Bring Math to Life with Whiteboards and Chalkboards!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hunt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5970327"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_52260","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1308,"numTeachers":68,"percentFrplEligible":71,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":34,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":43,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":42.1,"schoolId":52260,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/iowa/sioux-city-community-school-district/west-high-school/52260"}
