Although I was unable to get some of the original items I requested due to supply issues, I was able to get replacement items that will still make an impact on my classroom and students. The pencils, pens, highlighters, post-it notes, and glue sticks will allow my English 3 and AP Lit students to be meaningfully engaged in reading and responding to literature. \r\n\r\nNo matter their background, resources, or ability- all students will be able to participate in making their thinking visible with these resources. Having them available for students to use at their table groups and at the supply station ensure that no student will have to be afraid to admit they don't have supplies of their own. Everyone can access the strategies equally. The students respect the items and take care to use them appropriately- they appreciate the genorosity of the donors to help them be successful! we use these items daily to journal, read and annotate, respond to texts, and make sense of notes in our interactive notebooks. Students are organized, their brains are using psychological principles to learn and remember, and they feel a sense of belonging. \r\n\r\nBecause of these materials, I don't have to worry about students not engaging with our texts and strategies. The students learn more when they don't have to worry about not having a pencil. Their brains benefit from color coding, interactive annotations, using postit notes to discuss their ideas in a quick write, and having tangible evidence to make their thinking visible. Donors like the Bezos Family Foundation make supplies one less worry I have a teacher, and one less thing for me to spend my own resources on. I willingly buy things for my classroom to make it comfortable and inviting. We were able to convert it into a sublimation printer, which now allows us to create Freshman House merchandise in-house. We are able to watch them at a \"slo-mo\" rate to help us see what is happening in real-time. The projector has allowed us to easily display information for both our students and people outside our team to help illustrate what we've completed and document our engineering design process! \r\n\r\nThe markers have allowed us to clearly mark and label important information in regards to our engineering portfolio and allow team members to communicate thoroughly through notes and labels since each student's work time may be different than others.
