When the materials first arrived and were unpacked, the students' eyes immediately lit up. They were overwhelmed with the variety of sensory fidgets, emotion-regulation games, and cozy calming items, often asking to take them with them! One middle schooler walked in during a tough morning and said, \"It feels like this room was actually made to help us relax.\" That instant reaction of comfort and curiosity set the tone for how vital these resources would become to our daily check-ins and small-group sessions.\r\n\r\nHaving these resources on hand has allowed us to move beyond simple conversations and implement hands-on SEL activities that help students understand and process their feelings. Recently, a student who frequently struggles with anxiety during the school day used one of our new interactive coping games during a session. Instead of shutting down or feeling overwhelmed by questions about their stress, playing the game provided a low-pressure way to identify specific triggers and practice grounding techniques in real time. Moments like this prove that when kids have tactile, engaging tools to express themselves, they build emotional resilience much faster and feel far more empowered in managing their day.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next step is to guide students in taking these self-regulation strategies out of the counseling office and into their everyday classrooms. Over the coming weeks, students will be creating their own personalized \"Coping Strategies Toolkits\" based on the games and reflection exercises they've mastered here. By testing out different tools in our office and identifying what works best for them, they will build a customized toolbox to manage stress during tests, group projects, and social situations.
