They built hopping robots and competed to see whose could hop to the finish line the fastest. They designed robotic hand grips and explored the limitations of different grip styles.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the most fun project was designing a car that could follow a black line. We discussed applications and talked about how some jobs are safer for robots to do than humans. Then they spent many days refining their designs and code to see which group could clock the fastest lap on our bean-shaped track, while retaining enough sensitivity to stay on the line.\r\n\r\nI cannot wait to begin again with the next group of students in March, to see the determination and joy on their faces. This kit is durable, with a variety of pieces that some students have never seen before.
