Harrison goes big for this due to our large hispanic population. With the generous donations from donors choose, I was able to purchase bilingual books representing the different countries my students are from! The first day that I put them on the bookshelf, one of my students with a Honduran background was so excited and right away grabbed the Honduras book to read. He was so proud to show off the book to his friends and has grabbed it multiple times since then. We have also been able to read it as a whole class to get a discussion going on the country, which we chose for our door decoration. The same thing with the Mexico book, many of my students continually grab it as their free choice reading book. \r\n\r\nThe balance board is also quite popular in my classroom and I am thinking of investing in some more in the future. It really helps those students who need a bit of movement to be able to focus. They are able to sit on it quietly or even stand on it, which really helps to cut down on off-task behavior.\r\n\r\nThe other materials that we received have also been such a big help in our classroom when it comes to organization! Every day we do something called 'boards, markers, erasers\" where students use white boards to do phonics skills. I am using the clip board holders for my white boards to easily have them available. It makes things so much smoother than having them in a bucket. The plastic bins have been great for organizing things for indoor recess and students are able to go and grab it on their own, helping to create some more independence in 1st grade.\r\n\r\nOverall, I am so grateful for the generous donations that this project has given my classroom and I have encouraged other teachers to submit their own projects as well.","fullyFundedDate":1786197842784,"projectUrl":"project/title-1-first-grade-dual-language-immers/10381279/","projectTitle":"Title 1 First Grade Dual Language Immersion Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Navarro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10552193"},{"teacherId":10339590,"projectId":9870424,"letterContent":"Having the carpet has created a space of community as well as a nice soft place to sit and learn. We have enjoyed getting to also daily see the world and the animals that live in each part of the world.\r\n\r\nThe wobble chairs have been a great source of wiggle and wobble for our friends who need to be able to safely wobble and learn.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting our goal of breathing new life into our classroom.
