We spent two weeks reading The Mona Lisa Vanishes by Nicolas Day. My students really enjoyed learning additional information about Leonardo da Vinci and The Mona Lisa.\r\nBecause of our work in a prior unit in our reading series on the Renaissance, my students were able to make MANY connections and had a lot of prior knowledge to the story. I think they were surprised by how much information they were able to say \"I already knew that!\" about. We also learned more details about Leonardo da Vinci as well. They especially enjoyed the part where they learned that Leonardo dissected many corpses to learn about human anatomy. \r\nIn the photos you'll see a giant poster we made as a class. Each student was given a piece of the \"puzzle\" to color. They had so much fun watching me piece the poster together to see the end result.\r\nOne of the best rewards a teacher can get for picking a good book is to have students literally BEG to keep reading. As a former Media Specialist this is even more special for me. It makes my heart warm inside when it's time to stop reading and the class is coming up with reasons to persuade me to read more. It's remarkable how a good book can make a reluctant read want to read. I love that! \r\nThank you again for giving my kids a chance to experience great literature. It proves that every child loves to read as long as you find the right book.","fullyFundedDate":1744199340670,"projectUrl":"project/making-the-renaissance-reformation-com/9114113/","projectTitle":"Making the Renaissance & Reformation Come Alive","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Osborn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp223969_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1516723377622","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/223969"},{"teacherId":3117503,"projectId":9106533,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity towards my project. These light covers will greatly enhance the student environment. My first class noticed the lights were dimmer and felt \"soothing.\" I then explained what they were and how they helped them learn! \r\n\r\nThere will be many applications during class. The light covers will stay up full time and can used during all music activities. This is a great benefit in that I do not have to keep switching them in and out. \r\n\r\nThank you again!
