Your generous donation has helped our orchestra classroom more than you could ever know. \r\n\r\nWe started off this year with the coolest orchestra room. We basically have dream stands for our students. Each stand has a tuner attached to it ready for our musicians. This gives every student the ability to own their learning and tuning process. Our students know they can get their instruments and start tuning right away. This helps our classroom save precious time for more learning. It also puts the responsibility in the students hands so they learn to on independence in the process. \r\n\r\nThe tuners will also be very well-used in the process of teaching our new ninth grade students to tune their pegs on their own this year. Without individual tuners this process in learning would be almost impossible and take three times as long to learn. \r\n\r\nI wish I could adequately describe the joy you have brought to my classroom. Because of your kindness, our classroom was able to dive into Trevor Noah's Born a Crime, and the impact has been nothing short of transformative. For many of my students, turning these pages meant seeing their own lived experiences, identities, and voices reflected in a published work—some for the very first time. That validation alone has sparked a renewed enthusiasm for reading and sharing their own unique stories.\r\n\r\nBeyond the personal connection, this book has built a powerful bridge within our classroom community. Reading about Noah's journey as a multilingual individual opened up rich, eye-opening conversations among my students. My monolingual students gained a profound new perspective on the resilience and strengths of their multilingual peers, fostering an atmosphere of genuine empathy, respect, and mutual understanding. They now feel empowered and fully equipped for success, which is essential for fostering a strong learning environment. The genuine excitement and enthusiasm displayed by the teenagers upon receiving the supplies were truly remarkable, and we have never witnessed such eagerness to learn a new creative skill.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has given them the invaluable opportunity to:\r\n\r\nAcquire a new, lifelong skill.\r\n\r\nEngage in creative expression.\r\n\r\nExperience the fulfillment of making handmade gifts for family and friends.\r\n\r\nWe are pleased to report that the club features a diverse range of skill levels, from absolute beginners mastering the slip knot to more advanced crocheters.\r\n\r\nOur first major project will be creating crocheted roses for Valentine's Day. Your kindness has made a direct and powerful impact on young people who are not only learning a new language but also navigating the challenges of adjusting to a new culture, community, and school environment.\r\n\r\nMany of my students have arrived in the United States within the last few months or years, and they face unique barriers that go beyond academics. They are learning to express themselves in a new language while processing the emotions that come with change, loss, and uncertainty. The SEL resources you helped provide—such as journals, mindfulness tools, fidget items, and discussion cards—have become daily essentials in our classroom. They help my students practice grounding techniques, reflect on their emotions, and build the vocabulary to talk about feelings, relationships, and goals.\r\n\r\nThe personal care supplies you made possible have also been incredibly meaningful. Something as simple as deodorant, lotion, or sanitary items might not seem like much, but for many of my students, access to these necessities helps restore dignity and confidence. It's amazing to see how providing these small supports has reduced anxiety and improved attendance and participation. When students' basic needs are met, they show up ready to learn, contribute, and connect.\r\n\r\nOne of the most heartwarming changes I've seen is how the classroom atmosphere has shifted. My students now see our classroom as a safe and welcoming space—a place where they can take a deep breath, ask for help, and know that someone cares about their well-being. The SEL check-ins we do each morning have led to meaningful conversations about self-worth, resilience, and empathy. Students are learning to listen to one another, support each other, and recognize their own strengths.\r\n\r\nYour donation has done more than provide supplies—it has reminded my students that people believe in them, even those they've never met. For students who often feel unseen or overlooked, that message carries immense weight. I've seen quiet students open up and shy students take leadership roles during group SEL activities. The joy, laughter, and confidence that now fill our room are evidence of the ripple effect your generosity has created.\r\n\r\nAs their teacher, I am deeply moved and inspired by your compassion. You've helped me create a classroom that nurtures both hearts and minds—one where language learning, self-awareness, and emotional growth come together. Thank you for investing in my students' potential and for helping them feel valued and supported.\r\n\r\nWith sincere appreciation,","fullyFundedDate":1755774019457,"projectUrl":"project/caring-for-the-whole-student/9536065/","projectTitle":"Caring for the Whole Student","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bustos Diaz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8524158_orig.jpg?crop=383,383,x70,y177&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1773360970696","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/k-bustosdiaz"},{"teacherId":410966,"projectId":9593669,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, all of my students can access the audio portions of my online textbook!
