Students absolutely loved the new graphic novels! They enjoyed the new books so much that some wanted to repeatedly read the same story over and over. The students were excited to make deep connections with the characters through sports, physical features, and shared life experiences. One of my students jumped for joy and expressed her love of a story that included Spanish and English dialogue. This book captured her heart because it was about a kid from Mexico, which aligned with her family heritage. It was genuinely hard to tear her away from reading this specific book during classroom transitions. She even took it home to read it with her mom as well. Seeing her face light up with pride reminded me why representation in literature matters so profoundly. When kids see themselves in books, it unlocks an authentic passion for reading that traditional textbooks rarely achieve.\r\n\r\nOur classroom library became a vibrant hub of discovery, laughter, and shared conversations about plots and heroes. Every single day brought new moments of engagement as children traded recommendations and discussed their favorite panels. They discovered that stories can be windows into different worlds and mirrors reflecting their own unique lives. This daily immersion built stamina, fluency, and critical thinking skills across the board.\r\n\r\nOur class successfully achieved our ambitious goal of reading 800 books and logging 25,000 minutes of independent reading this school year. Student proficiency increased dramatically due to books like these capturing their imaginations. My classroom started out with only 5% of students showing reading proficiency according to the IRead3 assessment. By the end of the year, an incredible 85% of my students showed reading proficiency according to that exact same assessment. I found profound joy in watching one student who has only been in the United States for one year pass that assessment with flying colors. She went from barely reading and speaking English at the beginning of the year to ranking in the top 5% of our class on all reading and math assessments. Her incredible journey proves that the right resources bridge language and cultural gaps effortlessly. I could immediately see who understood the concepts and who needed extra assistance. I personally fell in love with the modern magnetic erasers. I always had one conveniently placed on the main board during instruction to keep our transitions smooth and efficient. It saved valuable time during fast-paced lessons. These supplies directly impacted student achievement. In fact, our class celebrated a remarkable seventy percent growth in math skills this year. \r\n\r\nThe dry-erase materials allowed students to solve complex math problems without the fear of making permanent mistakes. They could easily correct errors and try again. This built immense confidence and resilience in struggling learners. Your support provided the essential tools that turned abstract math equations into tangible, interactive learning experiences. Every math session became an active practice session rather than a tedious chore. This constant loop of practice, erasure, and correction accelerated their learning velocity significantly. We saw major jumps in baseline assessments, quarterly benchmarks, and overall academic confidence. The children felt empowered because they possessed high-quality resources, creating a truly level playing field.\r\n\r\nWe were able to finish the year strong because the students stayed highly motivated. This project also taught them valuable lessons about community responsibility and organization. The students took great care of their materials, leaving us with plenty to start the new school year. They carefully capped markers, stacked whiteboards, and stored pencils after every single use. Because of their diligent maintenance, we do not need to replace these items for the upcoming semester. We can immediately jump into learning on day one. With your donation, my students are getting that plus more. As a class we have been able to connect our learning with science and social studies in a much deeper way. My students are more engaged than ever before. What they are learning in class they are able to discuss with their families at home. This has become a wonderful way to engage my parents that only speak Spanish in their child's learning. Parents will listen to their child read in English then read the book to them in Spanish.
