These resources have transformed our room into a space where students feel like true engineers and innovators. When my students first walked in and saw the new setup, their excitement was contagious—many commented that it finally felt like a \"real\" makerspace, and they couldn't wait to dive into projects.\r\n\r\nAlready, the impact has been incredible. During a recent architecture challenge, students were able to spread out, sketch designs, and test prototypes in ways that simply weren't possible before. The flexible seating has also empowered students to choose where and how they learn best, whether that's collaborating at a large table or working more independently in a quiet space. These small shifts in environment have had a big effect on their creativity and collaboration.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we'll be using the makerspace tables as building hubs for our upcoming robotics unit, where students will design and program robotic vehicles. As a Title 1 school, we support a majority low-income population. That means that our students often don't have all of their needs met. The funding of this project allowed us to create three separate stations where we have a variety of hygiene supplies and snacks available for students, with no questions asked.\r\n\r\nWe were able to strategically place them around the building so that students from all three grade levels have access to them at any point. They are located in offices where students feel safest and where they know they won't be judged. The station locations have reduced the amount of time spent out of class and has made it more visible for students. We have already had students using our stations in all three locations! The barbells and dumbbells that were purchased are being used frequently as we teach students the basics of using weights. Wall charts and Google slides are used to enhance instruction related to the muscle and skeletal systems. Consequently students will understand how the use of weights affects body systems and can visualize principles used in conditioning. The weights will also serve as a much needed boost to our afterschool athletics programs for conditioning purposes.\r\n\r\nWe are also very pleased with the quality of the barbells and dumbbells purchased. They should serve our students well for many years to come.
