Of course, my scholars are growing teens and therefore seem to be hungry fairly often, but the majority of them come from families with economic challenges that might not cover the extra cost of a ready supply of snacks.\r\n I started teaching here at PPHS a year & a half ago. The material is pretty challenging for most students, and quite intimidating for some. So, I decided it might be help them to stay focused on the work if they could have access to a little snack once in a while. (I also try to make each student feel special by baking cookies, cupcakes, or brownies whichever they prefer for the class to share on their birthdays.)\r\n Unfortunately, after I started having a little snack bucket stocked & available each day, it became apparent that my budget was being stretched too thin. I didn't want to stop providing something that a lot of folks in my classes really appreciate, and some really needed, but it became very difficult to afford. Your generous gift allowed me to have the snack cabinet stocked for about 6-8 weeks. It allowed us to stock up without putting stress on our budget, which opened the door for students to design, create, and learn with real materials. Having these items donated also helped us keep our gear affordable so more students can represent their programs without worrying about cost. Most importantly, the donation freed up funds for other needs in the shop, such as equipment, upgrades, and specialty materials.
