The impact this has had on my students has been amazing. Students love the balls, peanuts, and donut balls we have. It allows them to move around in their seat. They really love the stand up desk with the balance disc. I have to admit, I was a little nervous about pulling out the disk, but students have done such a wonderful job using them in the correct way. I have had students talk to me about how it helps them focus better and having the choice of where they are sitting helps them want to come to school and learn. Every day we draw names and students choose where they are going to sit. If that seat isn't working for them they have other options. They never have to just sit in the same chair. Many of my students get very antsi, and the seating has really helped them control their movements. All in all, I couldn't be happier with the new seating. It has worked 100 times better than I could have ever imagined.","fullyFundedDate":1750169059437,"projectUrl":"project/a-classroom-that-can-help-the-mind-and-b/9412455/","projectTitle":"A Classroom That Can Help the Mind and Body","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Akers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2496311"},{"teacherId":2496311,"projectId":9401003,"letterContent":"The impact that flexible seating has had on my classroom is incredible. I notice so many positives aspects that it has had on my students. \r\n It is so hard for students to sit all day in a hard chair, students love to sit on the balance balls and the wobble stools. Many students have come up and told me that having the ability to move around or bounce a little on their seat has made them able to focus better. When we choose which seats we will have the next day, many choose the flexible seating or the standing desk. Some still choose the regular seats, but that is the beauty of flexible seating. Students get to choose what works best for them. \r\n I have to admit, I was a little bit nervous with the balance boards. I didn't get the out right away, but when I did, the students loved them. I was worried that they would be a distraction for students, but they are actually the complete opposite. Students are able to focus for long periods of time while balancings. \r\n The cushions are really wonderful. One thing I let students do is take their shoes off. The cushions are actually made as a sensory tool. Students really like to rub their \"socked\" feet on the cushions. \r\n Flexible seating has really made a difference in my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1749479543056,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating/9401003/","projectTitle":"Flexible seating","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Akers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2496311"},{"teacherId":9596610,"projectId":8502905,"letterContent":"This project had a meaningful impact on my students' learning by ensuring their basic needs were met, allowing them to stay focused and engaged throughout the school day. Many of my students face food insecurity, and thanks to the snack fundraiser, we were able to provide nourishing snacks to those who otherwise may not have had anything to eat. When students aren't distracted by hunger, they are better able to participate, learn, and thrive in the classroom.\r\n\r\nBecause of the materials provided, I was able to create a more supportive and inclusive learning environment. I could focus on instruction and building strong relationships, knowing that all students had access to food and could concentrate on their learning.\r\n\r\nA huge thank you to the Donaldson Foundation for making this possible.
