It made for a memorable lessons and helped them to see the food chain in action. \r\n\r\nWe have since started learning about the earth and will be learning about volcanoes. The puppets are an incredible tool to use with my emotionally disabled students.\r\n It is incredible to see the motivation and excitement with my students when we begin to work with puppets. It shows that given the right tools, anyone no matter what, is able to be creative.\r\n One of my students has become a great story teller with the puppets. He knows how to develop characters and can come up with the beginning, middle, and end of a storyline. Academics are incredibly difficult for him, but I have seen him build confidence, creativity, and a spark that I hope can flow into other areas of his life.\r\n I honestly didn't know how this would work with this group, but they are able to improvise scenes and understand lip-synching now. Many of them had no idea who some of the entertainers were which made me excited. I knew they were hungry for more information on them.\r\n\r\n Now that school is in session, I have begun my lessons for my students K-6. We began with William Shakespeare last week. I gave them the biography of him. I also gave them the importance of him as the founder of entertainment and that without him we wouldn't have Broadway, plays, maybe even movies and tv. We also watched a clip of the movie Hamlet and tied it to The Lion King. Students were excited and wanted to know more about Shakespeare. The biggest impact I see in my classroom when we do novel studies is growing the students love of reading. Students see how reading takes us on adventures and to places that we may never get to visit. \r\n My entire 1st grade class loved the book so much.
