Because of your support, my students were able to dive into copies of The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. For many of my students, holding a brand-new book of their own creates an immediate spark of excitement, and having full class sets allowed us to read, analyze, and discuss Ada and Jamie's story together as a community.\r\n\r\nThroughout this unit, these books became so much more than just a reading assignment. My students watched Ada overcome trauma, learn to navigate her physical disabilities, and discover her own worth and independence. This novel sparked powerful classroom discussions about empathy, resilience, and perspective. To showcase their learning, students put their analytical skills to work by writing reflective pieces on Ada's character growth, comparing her life in London to her new beginning in Kent, and exploring how acts of care and safety can transform a person's life.\r\n\r\nYour donation did not just provide paper and ink; it provided my students with a meaningful literary experience that built both their reading comprehension and their empathy for others. Seeing their confidence grow as they analyzed complex themes and wrote about Ada's journey was truly inspiring.
