Many of my students need a place to come and decompress from overstimulation in the general education setting. Comfortable, flexible seating in a room with low lighting will help them reset and be able to go back to active learning quickly. We have students who frequently need help when they become anxious or overwhelmed. Establishing a learning lounge will give them a safe space to come and be supported by staff as the students use coping skills to overcome their challenges. Students often miss a lot of instructional time when they become anxious or overwhelmed. Our aim is to get the students back to their classrooms ready to learn.
