It also focuses on students being fundamentally provided only with texts that include those phonics skills that have been taught. That leaves a gap in books that struggling readers have access to. For example, until a few years ago, if a student was struggling with short vowels, there were a limited number of books published that only had those skills in them. \r\n Now, thanks to your donation, our students have a plethora of books to choose from where they can get all the practice that they need in the specific skills that they're working on. Research says that it takes a struggling reader more than 100 repetitions to learn something. That means that continued and consistent practice is crucial for them to get that one skill! \r\n Children can go to the basket that targets the skill they are learning or need reinforcement with, and choose books that they want to read and interests them. They know that they are going to be successful in decoding the words in that book, because they have had plenty of practice in reading similar words!\r\n The children and I are overwhelmed by your intentional generosity in choosing our project to fund.
