Your generosity has brought so much joy, connection, and belonging to our classroom.\r\nEach week, our students gather together in a circle with their drums to explore rhythm, movement, and music. These moments have become much more than music lessons—they are opportunities for students to connect with one another, build confidence, and express themselves in ways that words sometimes cannot.\r\nMany of my students are neurodivergent and thrive with hands-on, sensory-rich experiences. The gentle vibration of the drums, the steady rhythm, and the shared musical experiences help support self-regulation, attention, and emotional expression. Students who are often quiet or hesitant to participate eagerly reach for a drum and join the group. It has been incredible to watch students smile, take turns leading rhythms, and celebrate each other's creativity.\r\nOne memorable moment came during our weekly circle when a student who rarely speaks began confidently leading a rhythm for the class. One by one, classmates echoed the beat, creating a powerful moment of communication and belonging without the need for words. It reminded all of us that everyone has a voice, and sometimes that voice is expressed through music.\r\nWhen the drums first arrived, the excitement filled the room. Students' eyes lit up as they explored the instruments, feeling the different sounds and vibrations. They couldn't wait to play together, and their enthusiasm continues every week.\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue using the drums to support social-emotional learning, communication, cooperative play, and creative expression. We are expanding our activities by combining drumming with storytelling, movement, mindfulness, and cultural music experiences that encourage empathy, listening, and collaboration.\r\nBecause of your kindness, our classroom has become a place where every student can participate, connect, and feel a true sense of belonging. Thank you for believing in our students and for making these meaningful experiences possible. Your generosity is creating lasting memories and helping every child discover the joy of learning through rhythm.","fullyFundedDate":1776376840498,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-healing-through-music/10188777/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Healing Through Music","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wanda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6976741_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1575327201348","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6976741"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_107244","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":9,"percentAsian":27,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"US Census Data for the surrounding geographic area","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"Census ZCTA","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":73.0,"schoolId":107244,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Schaumburg Early Learning Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Schaumburg Early Learning Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/school-district-54/schaumburg-early-learning-center/107244"}
