I was able to bring almost every 2026 Bluestem and Monarch nominee to the library at Franklin Elementary School. Having these high-quality, engaging books on our shelves has grown the students' love for reading and learning.\r\n\r\nOur Monarch nominees are picture books and early chapter books for readers in grades K-3. I have used many of these books already in my lessons with students. We've read \"Home is Calling\" to follow Monarch butterflies on their amazing migration journey to Mexico. Titles like \"The Red Jacket,\" \"Hamsters Make Terrible Roommates,\" and \"Bathe the Cat\" anchored lessons about sharing and self-acceptance, compromise, and family dynamics. Students are excited to keep hearing these books and to check them out and bring them home to share with their families.\r\n\r\nThe Bluestem titles were in high demand as soon as they landed on our shelves. Fifth-grade students kicked off an animal research project with a read-aloud of \"Butt or Face,\" a hilarious and informative book about animal adaptations. Graphic novels like \"Swim Team\" and \"Batcat\" are generating lots of buzz. Students who manage to read 10 Bluestem-nominated books before student choice voting in March will celebrate with a pizza party!\r\n\r\nOur Illinois Readers' Choice Award nominees are a huge part of my teaching, year after year. The titles stay popular with students long after the votes are tallied. Students at Franklin Elementary get to read and revisit them over and over thanks to your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1752160370010,"projectUrl":"project/growing-great-readers-with-bluestem-and/9422086/","projectTitle":"Growing Great Readers With Bluestem and Monarch Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fetty Ward","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3595479_272x272.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1468967956479","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3595479"},{"teacherId":1801800,"projectId":8978553,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom!
