Complete with a crash pad, sensory tools, fidgets, and calming resources, it gives students a safe place to recognize their feelings, regulate their emotions, and return to learning when they're ready.\r\n\r\nThe first day the sensory corner was set up, my students' used it. They explored the different tools and asked questions about when and how they could use them. They understood quickly that it was not just a \"fun\" space. it was a place where they could regulate if they needed some support. \r\n\r\nNow, students use the sensory corner multiple times throughout the day. Whether they need a few quiet minutes after a challenging moment, sensory input to help them refocus, or a calming strategy before returning to class activities, these resources have become an essential part of our classroom.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stands out was watching a student independently recognize they were becoming overwhelmed, choose to use the sensory corner, and then calmly return to finish their work with confidence.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, we will keep teaching and practicing self-regulation strategies so students can identify their needs and choose the tools that work best for them.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and investing in their social-emotional well-being. SO many students from my school have been able to regulate their bodies using the items that were purchased. \r\n\r\nWorking in a title 1 school this year was something new for me.
