Unfortunately, I was unable to order ukuleles because they were all sold out by the time the order was placed. I did receive the ukulele mounts and was able to build and install a beautiful rack for the ukuleles we have and the ones I hope to get in the future. I also chose to purchase some other instruments for the classroom. I received 14 colorful bell sets for our youngest students to start learning how to play instruments. I can't wait to try them out with our kindergarten students in the next few months. I also got a set of hula hoops to play music games and activities with. Some of my older student helped unpack the bells and were able to try them out. They told me they think the little kids will have lots of fun playing them. I am looking forward to starting the process next year with a music club for learning ukulele after school. If that is successful, I will continue to raise funds to purchase instruments until I have enough to teach a full class, and then I can start a ukulele unit for all of the 5th graders.\r\nI really appreciate your contributions to my classroom and the music program at my school. I wish you all could hear the oooohs, and aaaahhs and excitement as all of my classes walked in the room to see it for the first time. We have many happy faces here. Word is spreading to the classes who have not had music yet and I have lots of excited faces peeking in the door before and after school to check it out.\r\n\r\nAll of the Kindergarten-3rd grade kids now have their own square to sit on the carpet. They are very excited about the piano key border and like to pretend to play the piano while listening to music. I also have kids asking about all of the music symbols and what they are for, which is increasing their music vocabulary and their interest in music.\r\n\r\nWe have already started using the big music staff to learn about lines and spaces in first grade, which is the first step in learning to read music. We played a game with velcro circles where the kids had to find a line or space on the staff and put their circle on it. \r\nThe older students are using the carpet to help them learn the letter names of music notes. Our 5th graders are doing a group project and creating their own song.
