There's nothing better than seeing my students excited about a brand new influx of books for our classroom library. We work so hard to build a love of learning and reading, and it's really hard to get kids excited to read tattered old books. \r\n\r\nWhen we got the new books, we spread them out on the rug and it was so fun to see the giant smiles and hear the squeals of excitement. The next sound we heard was silence as the kids happily dove into their books and started reading. \r\n\r\nOne of the special things about this grant is the inclusion of book series, which are especially perfect for 2nd grade readers. They love to find a book they're excited about and then find out that the book is part of a series and there's even more fun to be had!\r\n\r\nThanks so much again for your donation to our classroom. We are so excited to keep the love of reading going.","fullyFundedDate":1715953344276,"projectUrl":"project/books-books-and-more-books/8397581/","projectTitle":"Books, Books, and More Books!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Residori","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp11760_orig.jpg?crop=1056,1056,x1552,y448&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1576636571786","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-residori"},{"teacherId":11760,"projectId":9592705,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom! It has been so nice to get refreshed seating and working options to replace our old ones that were falling apart. \r\n\r\nThe kids had such big, bright smiles when they walked in to see our shiny, new rocking chairs, which are a cozy addition to our classroom. It's nice to see how at ease they look when sitting on the chairs and really helps to bring the homey vibe to our classroom. \r\n\r\nThe standing table has also been a wonderful addition to our working options, as some kids really prefer to stand while they do their work at times. Not only did it open up a new option for a way to do work (standing vs sitting), but because the table is on wheels, we were able to put it in a space that couldn't previously be used for a table. Because of this, our whole class has been able to spread out a bit more during work times, which is really helpful for individual focus. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your donation to our classroom. It's only because of donors like you that we have such a warm, welcoming environment, and for that we are incredibly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1755743881791,"projectUrl":"project/keep-our-seating-options-fresh/9592705/","projectTitle":"Keep Our Seating Options Fresh!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Residori","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp11760_orig.jpg?crop=1056,1056,x1552,y448&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1576636571786","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-residori"},{"teacherId":260786,"projectId":9554700,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to our project! The students have been creating a curriculum with me. We have designed a martial arts belt style curriculum where students autonomously learn about a large array of studios (clay, vinyl cutting, 3-d printing, construction, origami, audio, electrical, coding, printmaking, sewing, film, animation, digital imaging and more. They begin as a white belt in a studio and work through the belts to a black belt. The belts follow a structure of first studio care, then 3-4 basic skills in the studio, then reflecting on the studio they have chosen, then they create their own designs based on their learning, finally they become a blackbelt when they teach others about the studio. They also have the opportunity to improve the belt system through adding to the belts. Your gift of providing the materials is unbelievable. The way the students move about the room with confidence and autonomy makes a teacher so happy and proud. They teach each other and run the class. I literally facilitate. They teach me too. They respond to failure with confidence and maturity. They learn about themselves as learners and overcome the struggles without shame or fear. I think Drews words sum up their experience in the STEAM lab.\r\n\"I really did enjoy making this piece. It wasn't for a grade, or to put out a theme. I did this for fun, and I did have fun. I did what I enjoyed doing. Animating, I pushed myself to use multiple styles I liked to do. It was hard, but it was worth it. I used fourth wall breaking, I 3D printed stuff, and animate in two different ways. If I had to redo and improve on this, I would want more time. To make it smoother. I would want to improve on this, but I'm proud of what I did.
