Leading up to the event, students used the new robotics kits you provided to build, test, and refine their robots in small teams. Having access to additional materials meant students could work in smaller groups, spend more time coding, and take real ownership over their designs. That extra time and access made a huge difference.\r\n\r\nOne of the most powerful moments came on competition day. Students walked in feeling nervous. Many of them had never participated in something like this before. Throughout the day, however, something shifted. They leaned into teamwork, made strategic adjustments to their code, and supported one another through every challenge. By the end of the competition, they had doubled their score from where they started. The pride, excitement, and energy they felt walking out of that space - knowing they had done something difficult and done it well - was incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the LEGO robotics kits, the reaction was immediate joy and curiosity. They couldn't wait to open everything, explore the pieces, and start building. The combination of hands-on materials and coding brought out a level of engagement that is hard to replicate. Students who are often quiet or hesitant jumped right in, experimenting, collaborating, and problem-solving together.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are excited to keep building on this momentum. During the off-season, students will continue practicing and refining their skills, learning new coding strategies, and taking on new design challenges. I am also integrating more coding and engineering challenges into my science classroom so even more students can experience this type of learning. We are even exploring the possibility of creating a summer program so students can continue working with robotics beyond the school year.\r\n\r\nYour support didn't just provide materials. It created opportunities for confidence, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving. Thank you for believing in my students and investing in their growth.","fullyFundedDate":1763575579555,"projectUrl":"project/robotics-in-action-helping-our-middle-s/9553698/","projectTitle":"Robotics in Action: Helping Our Middle School Makers Shine","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9672097_orig.jpg?crop=675,675,x200,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754678457467","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9672097"},{"teacherId":5492425,"projectId":9693365,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom library.
