My students need access to culturally relevant books that reflect the lives of my students. This will help to engage students even further in their independent reading and create a classroom of strong readers. I have found in my own experience while student teaching, that when students have access to high-quality books they are much more likely to make reading a habit in their daily lives. With these new books, my students would have access to books that reflect their daily lived experiences. These are award-winning books, from diverse authors that will help to create a classroom library teeming with engaging books for all students.
