Because of your kindness, our preschoolers now have incredible new hands-on tools to explore, create, and learn every single day.\r\n\r\nThe moment our new materials arrived, the excitement in our classroom was contagious. The vibrant acrylic gem blocks and jumbo cardboard building blocks instantly became class favorites. Watching the children collaborate to construct glowing towers, balance pieces, and share space on the rug has been magical. The voice-recording buttons have brought so much joy as students record messages and practice expressing themselves, while the Elmer & Friends Tonie character has made our listening corner a comforting space to focus on stories of kindness and acceptance.\r\n\r\nEvery single item in this project serves a vital purpose. The magnetic wands, bear sorting bowls, and dry-erase pockets are turning early math and science concepts into engaging games. Meanwhile, the LCD writing tablets and colorful cardstock give our little learners endless opportunities to practice drawing and building the hand strength they need for future writing. Even the dynamic moving sand art has provided a peaceful, calming sensory spot for children who need a moment to regulate their emotions.\r\n\r\nYour generosity did more than just fill our shelves; you provided the bridge that helps my preschoolers transition from playing side by side to building meaningful friendships. You have helped make our classroom feel even more like a second home where every child feels capable, valued, and excited to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1788386633854,"projectUrl":"project/finger-fitness-building-strength-throug/10292532/","projectTitle":"Finger Fitness: Building Strength Through Play","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. B.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp257608_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1458007716759","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/m-barrera"},{"teacherId":1780009,"projectId":9992959,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for backing this project. Teachers always talk about finding ways to make lessons \"stick,\" but having these little printers in our room has quite literally changed the energy in our day.\r\n\r\nMy students bounce around between different classrooms and fast-paced schedules, which used to bring a lot of anxiety and lost papers/materials. Now, when a student gets stuck or overwhelmed, we can instantly print off a simplified, step-by-step checklist on the thermal printer and slap it right into their binder. It sounds like a small detail, but watching a kid look at their desk, realize they actually know what to do next, and take a deep breath is everything.\r\n\r\nThe sticker printer has been just as big of a hit. Printing out quick \"Success Selfies\" and little custom affirmation stickers has given them a physical reminder of what they're capable of. \r\n\r\nYou didn't just buy us a couple of tech tools, you gave my students a way to feel in control of their own day and a reason to celebrate themselves. When the students first saw the bright, beautiful new carpet unrolled, their faces lit up with pure joy. There were audible gasps, immediate cheers, and a race to find the perfect spot. They couldn't wait to sink down onto it, running their hands over the soft fabric and marveling at how cozy it felt compared to our old, scratchy floor. That very morning, our circle time went from a restless transition to a moment of genuine excitement and comfort.\r\n\r\nWe now use this incredible resource every single day as our primary \"desk\" for core learning. It has done wonders for our classroom management and the students' spatial awareness. With defined, individual spots for each child, the daily friction of \"he's touching my space!\" has completely vanished. During a recent interactive story time, I watched in awe as the children sat comfortably in their dedicated home bases, entirely focused on the book and one another. Because they weren't distracted by physical discomfort, they were able to practice their budding empathy—actively listening to their friends' ideas and raising their hands to share.\r\n\r\nThank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving these curious, vibrant learners a safe, comfortable, and defined space where they can truly feel valued and ready to explore the world together.","fullyFundedDate":1777652895045,"projectUrl":"project/the-heart-of-our-classroom/10125994/","projectTitle":"The Heart of our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. B.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp257608_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1458007716759","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/m-barrera"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5290","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":728,"numTeachers":43,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":60,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.6,"schoolId":5290,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dever Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dever Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/chicago-public-school-district-299/dever-elementary-school/5290"}
