Students were so proud completing their novels and did such rigorous, impressive work throughout the unit. This was truly a marvel and goes to show when students have the materials they need, they can truly rise to the occasion. \r\n\r\nStudents were deeply engaged in their choice books and were able to have sustained discourse about their different books by using student-developed inquiry questions about the human experience. Students explored themes in their book using pertinent textual evidence and then discussed essential questions using art as a shared text. Students were elated to be able to match their highlighters to their pens to annotate for meaning. This allowed me, as their teacher, to assign more rigorous annotation tasks that required deeper engagement with the text to better showcase their thinking. \r\n\r\nStudents marked up short stories, poems, and did close readings for chapters from novels, newly excited for the task with fresh materials. Sometimes, enthusiasm for the task is part of the challenge and this donation removed that barrier. Thank you. \r\n\r\nThank you for believing in the worthiness of my students' education! I know I am! I wanted to take a minute to thank all who donated to our STEM Repair Team project. This grant supplied a soldering kit and repair parts for our classroom headphones. The headphones are the most broken item in the piano/keyboard lab. This is because students trip on the longer cords and then they break the jack that plugs into the keyboard. I used to through them away (because I had no way to fix them), but that was such a waste! We have figured out how to repair the broken plugs with the items you have provided through this grant. We have saved hundreds of dollars already by fixing them. This is amazing! Thank you for funding this grant. It has made a difference already.
