The very first day, we jumped right into using them for a group project, and I could see the difference right away—students were more engaged, eager to explore, and confident about their work. One moment that stood out was watching a group of students who usually shy away from participation light up as they discovered how the new materials made the lesson more accessible and fun. It turned what could have been a routine assignment into a hands-on, collaborative experience.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless—big smiles, wide eyes, and lots of \"Can we use this today?!\" They immediately wanted to dive in and get started. Having these resources in the classroom not only boosted their motivation, but also helped them feel that their learning environment was cared for and supported by people beyond the classroom walls.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these resources will continue to be a part of our lessons and projects. The next step for my students is building on what we've started—using these materials to deepen their understanding, strengthen their skills, and take more ownership of their learning. Your generosity didn't just supply my classroom with tools; it sparked new energy and possibilities for my students. We're so grateful for your support and can't wait to share how these resources continue to make an impact.","fullyFundedDate":1732198642377,"projectUrl":"project/creating-art-while-reading-books-40/8680457/","projectTitle":"Creating Art While Reading Books 4.0","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wiggins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9692111_orig.png?crop=575,575,x666,y906&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724209896616","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9692111"},{"teacherId":9923263,"projectId":9112971,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our flexible seating project! The new seating options have truly transformed our classroom into a more engaging, student-centered learning space.\r\n\r\nThe moment my students walked into the classroom and saw the new seating, their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. They were immediately drawn to the wobble stools, floor cushions, and lap desks—exploring every option and quickly claiming their favorites. One student exclaimed, \"This is the coolest classroom ever!\" It was a heartwarming moment that reminded me how much these resources can impact a child's daily learning experience.\r\n\r\nWe've already seen a noticeable difference in engagement and focus. During a recent group reading project, students were able to choose the seating that worked best for them, leading to more collaboration and deeper discussion. One student who usually struggles to stay on task has been thriving while using a floor cushion and clipboard—something so small, yet so powerful.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're diving into a cross-curricular project that combines science and writing. Students are researching animals and habitats, then creating informative booklets. The flexible seating allows them to spread out, move freely during peer review, and find comfortable spaces to think and create. It's amazing to see how this environment supports different learning styles.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our classroom is not just a place to learn—it's a place where students feel empowered and excited to take ownership of their education. The new storage bins, pencil containers, and notebooks have made a big difference in our classroom. One specific moment that stands out was during a recent writing unit—students were able to easily access their notebooks and keep their drafts organized, which made revising and editing much smoother. The paper storage has also helped me stay organized when grading assignments and preparing materials for each lesson. It's made our routines more efficient and less chaotic!\r\nMy students were genuinely excited when they saw all the new supplies, especially the new bins for their notebooks and pencils and other supplies. These storage bins will be used next year for new students who will have their new supplies to put into their bin. This year, we had some bins already and their desks to store things in and I wanted to start a new year with new materials especially using these blue and yellow bins to keep the classes things organized for when the new school year starts.\r\nRight now, we're working on a multi-step math project that involves solving real-world problems and explaining their thinking in writing. The notebooks have been a huge help in keeping track of their problem-solving steps and notes. Our next step is having students present their solutions to the class, and because they've kept their work organized, they'll be ready and confident to share!\r\nWith the new bins, paper organizer, and notebooks, students have been able to keep this classroom organized and efficiently running smoothly. There is always so much paperwork and these types of things will be used every day creating a clean and organized classroom environment for all. \r\nWe thank you for your dedication in helping underprivileged communities. It's been truly amazing to see how much they've benefited from the new sensory and self-regulation tools. The flexible seating options, like wobble stools and peanut balls, have been a hit, especially for those who need to move to stay focused. My most energetic students are more engaged and available for learning without causing distractions. The foot fidget bands have made a big difference for those who have need just a little extra movement during independent work, giving them a way to stay active while still focusing on their work.\r\n\r\nThe other tools, like quiet hand fidgets and weighted pencils, have been equally popular and helpful. Students who get anxious or distracted during whole group lessons love having something to do with their hands, which helps them stay calm and focused. The weighted pencils have been especially useful for kids who struggle with handwriting, providing extra support and making it easier to focus on writing. Sensory bins have become a favorite way for students to take a break and reset when they're feeling overwhelmed, letting them refocus and get back to work more calmly. The tools you have provided have really helped create a classroom where everyone can stay focused, calm, and ready to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1727887817608,"projectUrl":"project/focused-flourishing-empowering-self-r/8838414/","projectTitle":"Focused & Flourishing: Empowering Self-Regulation in the Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Taylor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8514551"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5399","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1000,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":82,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":98,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"3 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.1,"schoolId":5399,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about CICS - Loomis Longwood on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"CICS - Loomis Longwood","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/chicago-public-school-district-299/chicago-int-l-charter-school-longwood/5399"}
