I am teaching 2nd grade special education in a different district this year so I was basically starting over! I had a calm down corner last year and it worked so well that I wanted to duplicate it for my new classroom.\r\n With the materials you helped provide, I have been able to create a quiet place with a lot of sensory items and materials that give students a choice for some ways that they can learn to relax and calm themselves. Some of these kids deal with some very big emotions and they don't know how to regulate themselves or what appropriate ways of doing that look like. That's what this space creates for them.
