The students were so excited about the fidget rings. They have been so helpful for many of my students. Some use it as a fidget when having a difficult time sitting still. Some use it to stop biting their nails/skin due to anxiety. The students are picking up the graphic novels and are reading, instead of going straight to their computer games! The books grab my students' attention and they are able to hold their attention. It has been amazing. A student who needed to self-regulate chose to pick up a book to do so. One student was particularly excited about The Hobbit! The Globble balls were a hit and my students have used them in my classroom, as well as their general education classes. I have one student who struggles attending his last two classes of the day, but when he was given one of these, he felt like he could handle it and has been doing well since. The key and keychain will be given to the kiddos as a reminder they can carry with them throughout their day. With all the new materials, we have created a Relaxation Station inside the library. It is a dedicated, quiet space for students to work at or take items from the storage bins (perler bead project, diamond art stickers, puzzles, journals, word searches and more!) and work on them at their own speed and time. \r\n\r\nWe introduced the station a couple weeks ago and spent time every few days letting students try out each of the different items that are a part of the station. We taught them how to use the items and then how to clean up after themselves as well. Now, it is something students can freely use on their own time in the library. We have already had to reorder two different colors of perler beads! The students LOVE all the small activities and projects! \r\n\r\nAll the of the pieces that make up the Relaxation Station has really added to the library and given students another outlet for quiet time or a way to bring a friend to work on a small, relaxing activity.
