Our students are coming to us for gifted and talented educational needs, but that doesn't mean they don't have other needs as well. Being gifted and talented doesn't mean that you can sit still to create an art piece, work on a project, discover differences around the world, solve the next mathematical challenge, or design the latest invention. It does mean that as a kid you still have other sensory needs that should be met in the classroom. By offering a variety of seating choices to students, they are given the freedom to learn where they will be most successful. The wobble seats help students move while still working as a team member of our classrooms. Having the flexibility of sitting on the floor with a mobile desk, can offer a place that they feel more comfortable in an active space. Providing stools to students gives them the flexibility of how they sit or even rest a knee that won't hinder their learning. Allowing them the options in our classrooms, is an amazing step in creating a child centered learning environment that will result in success!
