The children have also used the yarn and hair ties to weave vibrant leis and bracelets for friends at another school and our visitors. Seeing the joy on their faces as they give these gifts—and the pride they feel when receiving thanks from the recipients—has been beautiful to witness.\r\n\r\nOur next step is launching the clay portion of our PBL garden project. The children are looking forward to sculpting bees and flowers for their families. The 2nd graders LOVED using the model clay and all the STEM materials to create their one-of-a-kind plants. They worked in groups to complete the task. They even displayed their plants for our Science Fair. Their parents were able to view their plants and saw pictures of the students creating the plants using the STEM materials. \r\n\r\nI truly believe this will be a project that they will always remember. The materials helped make this STEM challenge a rich learning task, as well as a super fun project!
