Next, students are playing short recorder pieces in small groups and adding handbell accompaniments, applying rhythm reading and ensemble skills. The students were so excited when they saw the beautiful STEM materials. The students used the materials to complete a Life Science STEM project. After learning about the parts of the flower and how pollination works, they were given the task to create a never existed plant, explain the parts of the plant and how it creates new plants. The 2nd graders LOVED using the model clay and all the STEM materials to create their one-of-a-kind plants. They worked in groups to complete the task. They even displayed their plants for our Science Fair. Their parents were able to view their plants and saw pictures of the students creating the plants using the STEM materials. \r\n\r\nI truly believe this will be a project that they will always remember. The materials helped make this STEM challenge a rich learning task, as well as a super fun project! They have been asking to playing during recess.
