They experimented with blending, layering, and expressive color choices—everything from iridescent eyes to multi-toned textures—bringing their creatures to life with vibrant detail. The glazes helped them push their creativity far beyond the surface, turning a fun project into a meaningful exploration of technique and imagination.\r\n\r\nTheir reaction when the materials first arrived is something I'll never forget. Students gathered around the boxes like it was a celebration, lifting each bottle with excitement and immediately imagining what they would create. Many of my students have never had access to such a wide range of professional-quality glaze colors, especially in our rural community, so this felt like a huge gift—one that expanded their artistic possibilities overnight. However, they quickly learned that these items had a specific function and purpose. \r\n\r\nCreating a space to have these items be most useful was the only challenge for our classroom. As far as the flex seating goes, they will always gravitate to a non-traditional seat when it's an option. I love seeing a kid sitting happily at a flex seat getting their work done.
