The farm is where we will get our eggs from in March and the workers there will help us so we can be successful in brooding our own chickens. They have created stickers, decals, pins, labels, and other designs that not only spark creativity but also foster pride in their work. With the new Mayco Stroke & Coat glazes, students have been able to bring color, personality, and meaning into their work in ways we simply couldn't achieve before. One of the first projects we used the glazes for was our Monster Sculptures, and the students were absolutely thrilled. They experimented with blending, layering, and expressive color choices—everything from iridescent eyes to multi-toned textures—bringing their creatures to life with vibrant detail. The glazes helped them push their creativity far beyond the surface, turning a fun project into a meaningful exploration of technique and imagination.\r\n\r\nTheir reaction when the materials first arrived is something I'll never forget. Students gathered around the boxes like it was a celebration, lifting each bottle with excitement and immediately imagining what they would create. Many of my students have never had access to such a wide range of professional-quality glaze colors, especially in our rural community, so this felt like a huge gift—one that expanded their artistic possibilities overnight. It created an instant spark in the classroom and set the tone for a more expressive, empowered year in the studio.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students have begun working on larger cultural pieces, including ceramic masks and identity-based projects inspired by personal stories and Native Hawaiian cultural motifs. While these won't be completed in time for our December 4th photo deadline, the glazes you provided will be essential in bringing those works to life next quarter and into the new year. Students are already exploring test tiles and combinations to prepare for these projects, and the glazes will allow them to create pieces that reflect their heritage, emotions, and connections to ʻāina and ʻohana with more accuracy and depth. Your generous support didn't just provide materials—it gave my students the tools to express themselves more fully, thoughtfully, and confidently as young artists.","fullyFundedDate":1757297585229,"projectUrl":"project/glazing-the-way-representation-through/9375265/","projectTitle":"Glazing the Way: Representation Through Color & Clay Part 2","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tania","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9314540_orig.jpg?crop=569,570,x0,y72&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720565854127","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9314540"},{"teacherId":9314540,"projectId":9375092,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our ceramics studio has become a more vibrant, empowering space for students at Hāna High & Elementary. The new Mayco Stroke & Coat glazes have transformed the way my students approach their artwork. For the first time, they have access to a wide range of colors that allow them to match skin tones, express cultural motifs, and bring deeper symbolism into their pieces. One of our first moments using the new glazes was during our Moon Phase project—students immediately gathered around the table, excitedly opening each bottle and holding them up to the light like treasures. Several students began experimenting with layering colors to create movement and depth, and the entire studio filled with that unmistakable buzz of creativity and discovery.\r\n\r\nThe impact goes far beyond color. These materials have opened the door to meaningful conversations about identity, cultural representation, and the stories we choose to tell through art. Many of my students are Native Hawaiian, and having access to colors that reflect their lived experiences brought a sense of validation and pride. One student shared that this was the first time they felt they could \"make the clay look like us.\" Moments like this are the reason your gift matters so deeply.\r\n\r\nWith these glazes, students are now beginning a series of storytelling projects, where they will design ceramic pieces inspired by personal history, ʻohana traditions, and themes of resilience. The versatility of the Stroke & Coat line has empowered them to take creative risks—experimenting with texture, mixing tones, and exploring advanced glazing techniques they've never had access to before. As their teacher, watching them step confidently into artistic decision-making has been incredibly moving. Your generosity didn't just supply materials—it gave my students permission to be bold, expressive, and proud of who they are.\r\n\r\nMahalo nui loa for making this possible. This area provides a safe retreat for children who feel overwhelmed, allowing them to practice self-regulation through mindfulness activities, like breathing exercises. By creating a peaceful atmosphere with soft colors and comfortable seating, this space can lower anxiety levels, making it easier for kids to concentrate on learning tasks. Moreover, it teaches children to reflect on their feelings and behaviors, promoting independence as they learn to recognize when they need a break. The calming space can also help improve social skills by acting as a neutral zone for resolving conflicts, encouraging kids to discuss their differences and develop empathy. It's especially beneficial for neurodiverse students, offering tailored resources like sensory toys and calming lights. By allowing kids to take necessary breaks before reacting, this space reduces behavioral issues and reinforces positive behavior. Overall, a calming space creates a nurturing environment that lays a strong foundation for academic success, enabling children to thrive in a supportive atmosphere.","fullyFundedDate":1742042140079,"projectUrl":"project/calming-space/9160511/","projectTitle":"Calming Space","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jasmine Sinenci","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7782402_orig.jpg?crop=962,962,x0,y557&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1665599529779","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7782402"},{"teacherId":7815992,"projectId":6952479,"letterContent":"Thanks so much for the seating and the snacks.
