Having personal access to essential items like pencils, markers, and Expo markers has eliminated a significant barrier to learning. Instead of waiting or sharing, every student can now fully participate in our daily activities. We use these resources constantly—from students working out problems on their personal whiteboards with the Expo markers to completing assignments with their own pencils. This immediate availability fosters independence, boosts confidence, and allows all students to engage actively and on equal footing from the moment they walk through the door.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to ensure this continues and that every student has uninterrupted access to these materials throughout the entire school year. By planning now, we can create a sustainable resource pool that guarantees no student will fall behind due to a lack of supplies later in the semester. Our goal is to maintain the successful, engaging, and equitable learning environment established at the beginning of the year, ensuring that the necessary tools for daily, hands-on learning remain readily available to all our students.","fullyFundedDate":1754074337092,"projectUrl":"project/school-supplies-needed/9491634/","projectTitle":"School Supplies Needed","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ancheta","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7697488"},{"teacherId":5506226,"projectId":9152379,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation. The magnetic alphabet boards quickly became a favorite, with students eagerly matching letters and proudly showing off their completed boards. The counting bears have been a wonderful way to bring math to life—students have been sorting by color, counting out \"bear families,\" and even creating their own little math games. Our pretend play sets have transformed our dramatic play corner into a space where students work together, practice taking turns, and use their imaginations in ways that strengthen their language and social skills.\r\n\r\nWe've already been able to use these resources in daily lessons and play-based activities. For example, during our literacy rotations, students use the magnetic letters to spell their names, while during math time, the counting bears help them practice one-to-one correspondence and simple addition. Our sensory-friendly toys have been especially helpful in calming and engaging students who need extra support, creating a more inclusive and focused classroom environment. The art supplies and laminating tools have allowed us to create durable, hands-on learning materials that can be used again and again, ensuring every student has access to the tools they need.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our classroom feels even more welcoming, organized, and full of opportunities for discovery. You haven't just given us \"stuff\"—you've given our students a chance to learn in ways that truly work for them. In particular, the students and staff have commented on how wonderful it is to be able to follow the class routine without unnecessary disruption. On days when students arrive without their shoes, our team must come up with alternatives to standing activities, which impacts the flow of the day and the students' ability to participate in the planned activities. But with the Shoe Share bins, that barrier is removed and the kiddos can smoothly transition to and from the standing activity with ease. Also, the students smile and laugh at the novelty of wearing \"new\" shoes for the day. \r\n\r\nThe first student to benefit from the project had arrived to school and was sad because the zipper on her Billy Goat shoes had broken, so she thought she would have to be in her wheelchair all day. When we presented her with the share shoes, she immediately brightened up and was able to engage with all activities with a more positive attitude because the pall of exclusion had been eliminated. We (the staff/teachers) were giddy to see how global was the positive impact on the student's social-emotional health, which spread much further than the standing activities during which the shoes were utilized.\r\n\r\nThis was only possible because of your generous donations and consideration.
