They were able to have a hands-on learning experience, allowing them to fully understand all it takes to raise plants. The project spanned 2 weeks, and they also hauled some dirt so they could plant their seeds and enjoy sunflowers in January. The seeds that were purchased were also part of the project package, and they are already sprouting, so the students are extremely excited!\r\n It was amazing to see the students working together for a common goal---to help build better green spaces at our campus. They used a wheelbarrow to haul dirt from a pile about 500 yards from our garden and they all worked together to fill each raised garden bed with soil. I was literally just managing behaviors, but they literally did all the work on their own.\r\n The garden beds will be a useful tool to also propagate some Native Hawaiian plants.
