Mathematics has been an area of need for many students. These large magnetic dry erase whiteboards will provide students with the space to teach their peers concepts that they have learned/mastered. The large dry erasable space allows students to show their mathematical processes, thoughts, and solutions to their peers surrounding them. This provides students with the agency to be active learners and involves all students in the process. Student-led learning communities provide students of all levels with the opportunity to learn. Each student is given a role in the learning community to ensure ownership of one's learning. The whiteboards provide students with the medium to teach their peers as well as go through the mathematical process that isn't as permanent as a pencil and paper. Students can decide to write on the board, keep track of the time and conversation, or take notes. All students play a role in the learning process and contribute to each other's understanding. My students thrive on working with each other and these whiteboards can provide students with a small and safe space to learn from their group members rather than a large classroom environment. This encourages students to collaborate, build relationships with their peers, and grow as an individual. When students are empowered, they are able to grow beyond their own beliefs. Finally, the flex-space seating promotes student engagement and allows students to enjoy the space that they are learning in. The different options to sit in the flex-space seat will help students that don't do well with sitting still and encourage them to be a part of their learning community. It is my hope that students feel safe and encouraged to learn in an innovative classroom environment.
