The first graders were so eager to begin earning classroom money to purchase these rewards. They became more focused, engaged, and industrious.\r\n\r\nThey began to perform better on individual assignments due to this generous donation but they also began to encourage each other to be able to earn the incentives. The new materials have become an essential part of our weekly routines and learning experiences. Students love using the art supplies during our weekly art lessons—our first big project was creating 3D fall trees using paper bags, and the pride on their faces when they took their creations home that same day was priceless. The resources have also made a big difference during RTI time, where students use them in small groups to make math more interactive and engaging. Even our indoor recesses have been transformed with the marble sets, keeping students active and joyful while staying indoors.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes first arrived, the excitement was unmatched. We had just returned from fall break, and students were wide-eyed with curiosity, unsure of what surprises were inside. As we unpacked each box, the classroom buzzed with amazement—students couldn't believe all the new tools they would get to use. It was a beautiful reminder of how much joy and wonder new learning materials can bring to children.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, my students are eager to continue exploring creative projects and hands-on learning experiences. We plan to incorporate the materials into upcoming seasonal crafts, mindfulness exercises with our breathing monitor, and small-group math challenges that build both confidence and collaboration. These resources have not only enhanced our lessons but also helped create a more balanced and joyful learning environment. As a second year teacher I started the year off with the very little supplies and your donation made all the difference for my students. The laminator was so helpful for my students because laminating papers makes it easier for things to be reused over and over again.\r\n\r\nSome of the things that were laminated were:\r\n Finger spacers- the students really struggled with using finger spaces in their writing before I laminated them their very own finger spacer.\r\n How to write a sentence- I gave the students a card that helped them remember what a sentence needs to have like starts with capital letter. Having this cheat sheet really helped them improve their writing.\r\n Sound/letter sheet- This helped students match the letter sound to the letter when they were writing. Where once we had only desks and a boring school carpet to work on, we now have a beautiful, soft and happy rainbow rug that we love to do work on (and also play!). The \"leaf-seats\" (as we have decided to call them) have helped us stay focused while we read independently --its like being in our own little cocoon! We have increased our independent reading time by about 15 minutes!! We also read more books this year than any other first grade class, because we had such an amazing area to enjoy our books! We also love to sit in the leaf-seats while we do work on our laptops--it's not always the most fun part of our day, so having cool seats to sit in make it a lot more appealing! We used the bean bag seats to celebrate the students of the day--two chosen scholars get to sit in the beanbag anytime they want for the entire day. What a treat! Since new scholars get chosen everyday, we had enough days left in the school year for all scholars to enjoy the beanbag seats at least 3 times each! It was the best part of being student of the day! \r\nThank you again for giving us a place to learn and laugh together--we may not remember everything we learned in first grade, but we will remember the fun times we had together and that is all because of your generosity. Prior to the donation, rewards for good behavior and academic achievement were often limited to stickers or verbal praise, which, while appreciated, lacked the tangible allure of these new treasures. The prospect of earning a radio-controlled car, Lego creation, or a vibrant puppet became a powerful motivator. There was a significant shift in student engagement such as more focused attention, and a newfound eagerness to complete assignments.\r\n\r\nThis generous donation not only boosted individual student performance but also fostered a more positive and cooperative classroom environment. Children began to encourage one another, recognizing that collective good behavior could lead to opportunities to earn the new toys. Instances of disruptive behavior decreased noticeably, replaced by a sense of purpose and a desire to meet classroom expectations. The toys, particularly the Legos and puppets, also provided valuable creative outlets. Ultimately, the donation transformed the classroom into a more dynamic and engaging learning space, proving that well-chosen incentives can have a profound and lasting impact on young learners.","fullyFundedDate":1741713664579,"projectUrl":"project/essential-incentives-increase-attention/9153163/","projectTitle":"Essential Incentives Increase Attention and Performance!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Oliver","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3576926"},{"teacherId":6443606,"projectId":9154855,"letterContent":"I truly appreciate your support in providing the materials for our classroom.
