I believe giving our students access to texts that help them build upon their comprehension and critical thinking is essential to our future community leaders' learning.
With their return after a pandemic driven year, these students are more eager and curious than ever for their return to in person learning. I'd like to be sure that I meet them where they're at by providing various grade level appropriate text materials to promote their critical thinking through an interdisciplinary lens. More specifically, these texts are physical and will allow them to annotate and manipulate to amplify their comprehension contrary to their learning in the previous year.
Students thrive in environments that ask them to use their voice founded upon previous experiences and newly acquired knowledge. Moreover, the opportunity to inquire with trusted sources like Scholastic News and Science Spin can add to students thought process, but also lead to more rich discussion and action beyond the walls of my classroom.
