They serve as a crucial organizational tool, empowering each student to manage and safely file their ongoing and completed assignments. This simple addition has drastically cut down on lost work and has boosted their sense of responsibility.\r\nFinally, the colored whiteboard markers are a huge hit and central to our collaborative work in our Building Thinking Classrooms. These materials are helping to make lessons more interactive and promote skill building with students using the National Health Education standards. I will also be using the materials for supporting my student's emotional needs since the Lahaina fire and COVID. Many of them rushed toward the shelves, pointing out the colorful materials and whispering, \"Teacher, is this for us?\" That simple moment of awe reminded me how powerful your support truly is.\r\n\r\nWe have already begun integrating the new resources into our daily routines. One of the first projects we launched was a collaborative literacy station where students rotate through reading, vocabulary games, and writing prompts using the new supplies. During one session, a usually shy student proudly read aloud from a book she selected from the updated library corner—something she had never felt confident enough to do before. Your kindness helped create that moment.\r\n\r\nThese materials are not just tools; they have become bridges—helping students connect ideas, express themselves, and work more independently. They now treat the space with such pride, often organizing materials without being asked because, in their words, \"We want to keep it beautiful.\"\r\n\r\nAs for what's next, we are diving into a multi-week project focused on inquiry-based learning. Students will explore real-world problems, record their observations, and present solutions using the materials and flexible learning areas you helped make possible. With every new activity, your impact continues to grow.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in their learning journey. The microphone allows the students to share their journal prompts at the beginning of class. As I teach ELL students, this practice is vital for building confidence and community within their speaking skills. When the materials first arrived, the students were a little shocked, and as middle schoolers, they were a bit hesitant to speak into the microphone in front of everybody. However, with time, practice, and support, they now enjoy it, and they really look forward to giving each other rounds of applause after sharing. For the whiteboard, they were excited that they would be able to use it in the future for projects or assignments. I also use the magnets now, as we do sorting activities on the whiteboards instead of on the desks, which adds excitement and provides something new to the class routine.\r\n\r\nOur donors got a little peek into our classroom by contributing to this project, and we know that they'd love to learn more about where their support is leading us. The next steps for our students involve leveraging these new tools to advance a current classroom lesson or project. The microphone will be essential for presentation practice, continuing to develop their public speaking skills as they share their work with the class. The whiteboard and magnets will be fully utilized for large-scale, collaborative project assignments, allowing students to visually organize information and arguments together. These continued uses will help us sustain the engagement and excitement they showed when they first realized they could use the new materials.","fullyFundedDate":1759254481113,"projectUrl":"project/amplifying-student-voices-for-growth-and/9772239/","projectTitle":"Amplifying Student Voices for Growth and Collaboration","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Alonzo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9547790_orig.jpg?crop=2304,2304,x0,y453&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723875652940","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9547790"},{"teacherId":9547790,"projectId":9701347,"letterContent":"We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and thrilled to share the positive impact your resources are having on our students. Seeing the students' excitement when the new materials, like the cones and supplies, first arrived was wonderful! I immediately shared that the cones will be used for an exciting outdoor team relay race we are planning with other 7th-grade classes. This relay is our next big classroom project focused on collaboration and leadership. Many of them couldn't believe that someone outside our school cared enough to support their growth and well-being. We began using the materials right away, integrating short fitness and mindfulness breaks into our daily routine. These moments not only boost energy and focus but also give students a safe space to release stress, reflect on their goals, and build self-discipline.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment was when a student who had previously struggled with motivation proudly led a short workout session for the class. The pride and encouragement from peers showed how much our environment of support and positivity has grown because of this project.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include tracking our progress through goal-setting journals and exploring connections between physical health, emotional well-being, and academic success. Watching their curiosity bloom was incredible, they weren't just learning science; they were connecting to something real and alive.\r\n\r\nWe've since turned our classroom into a mini-lab where students care for their plants daily, measure growth, and track changes in the ecosystem of the hydroponic fish tank. We have two female beta fishes, which the students named Math and Reading. This hands-on experience has given them a new sense of responsibility and pride. They love checking in each morning to see how their plants and fishes are doing.\r\n\r\nThe next step for my students is to expand our learning by connecting our garden to cooking and nutrition lessons. Soon, they'll harvest what they've grown and use it in simple classroom recipes, reinforcing life skills and healthy habits. They were writing scripts that often felt static, trapped on the page. You helped us bridge that gap, transforming our classroom into a vibrant, functional writing lab and rehearsal studio.\r\n\r\nThe Transformation: Page to Performance\r\n\r\nThe funds you provided allowed us to purchase essential resources that fundamentally changed our curriculum. Specifically, we were able to acquire:\r\n\r\nScript Development Tools: Access to specialized scriptwriting software that taught students professional formatting, making their work feel instantly more legitimate.\r\n\r\nRehearsal Materials: Quality printing supplies and durable binders allowed students to manage and mark up their working scripts, simulating a real production environment.\r\n\r\nBasic Staging Gear: We were able to get basic sound equipment and simple lighting gels, enabling students to experiment with mood and atmosphere during the writing process.\r\n\r\nThe impact was immediate and profound. Students didn't just write stories; they began writing for performance. They learned the discipline of dialogue, the power of silence, and the necessity of collaboration. The quality of their scripts skyrocketed because they were forced to consider their audience and the physical space of the stage.\r\n\r\nThe Student Outcomes\r\n\r\nThe greatest success was witnessing the boost in confidence and collaboration. Students who were shy about sharing their essays were eager to have their short scenes performed. They celebrated each other's work and learned to give and receive constructive, professional critique.\r\n\r\nBy the end of the semester, we hosted a showcase where our student playwrights directed and starred in their own one-act plays. They mastered the technical challenges of staging their work, and their sense of ownership over the entire process—from the first word written to the final curtain call—was inspiring.\r\n\r\nYour gift didn't just buy equipment; it activated creativity, cultivated future storytellers, and gave our students the confidence to step into the spotlight. Thank you for making these unforgettable moments possible. We are excited to carry this program forward and continue giving our student voices the stage they deserve.","fullyFundedDate":1756929226060,"projectUrl":"project/from-screen-to-stage-giving-our-stories/9570342/","projectTitle":"From Screen to Stage: Giving Our Stories a Voice","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Anthony Domingo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9681715_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764662376937","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9681715"},{"teacherId":7938962,"projectId":9159009,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, the iPad for my English Language Learners (ELLs) is in the classroom and a regularly used tool. This shift means they spend less time translating words and more time solving problems, giving them a vital boost in independence and confidence to engage with grade-level math.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this single piece of technology extends far beyond just math scores; it is helping them to foster a love for learning.
