My students were really happy to receive all the new supplies. In a room of newcomer learners who are adjusting to living in a new country, simple comforts such as water, snacks, tissues, a clean environment make a world of a difference. Thanks to your generosity, our new mini fridge is now stocked with water so students no longer have to leave class or go without hydration when the water fountains are unavailable. This has been such a game changer for them since it is hot all year round. The tissues and disinfecting wipes are being used daily, helping us keep our classroom healthy and reduce the spread of illness so students can focus on learning rather than feeling uncomfortable or distracted. \r\n\r\nThe organization tools, markers, fidget toys, calculators have also helped our classroom become a calmer, more structured learning environment. Students often want to wipe down their desk before and after class to keep our classroom clean and well maintained. Students are no longer as uncomfortably hot since they have cold water to help keep them cool. These small things are huge for students who are still building confidence in a new school and a new language. \r\n\r\nAs we continue our lessons, your donation ensures that students have the comfort and tools they need to stay present and focused on learning. They've been amazed to see how quickly the roots develop and how the plants thrive with just water and nutrients. When they first saw the materials, their eyes lit up—they couldn't believe we could grow food inside the classroom!\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite classroom moments was when students realized that the same fine motor skills they use in everyday life—like carefully squeezing tweezers or even tweezing theirs eyebrows —are actually part of the precision and patience needed in real lab work. It helped them see that science isn't just something in textbooks; it's something they can do with their own hands and creativity.\r\n\r\nNow that our plants are growing, students are tracking their progress, measuring growth rates, and comparing traditional soil-based methods with our hydroponic system. They're also beginning to discuss how these systems could help address food insecurity in our community by showing that farming can be both high-tech and sustainable.\r\n\r\nYour support has not only given us equipment—it has opened doors for students to imagine new futures in science, technology, and agriculture. The new materials have made a huge impact on both the structure and excitement in our learning environment. When my students first saw the heavy-duty pencil sharpener, they were excited, because they no longer have to leave the room just to get a sharpened pencil, which keeps our learning momentum going. The literature organizer quickly became a central part of our daily routine. Students now walk in, store their phones, grab their journals and handouts from the labeled slots, and settle in ready to learn. It has created a clear system that has improved classroom flow and helped everyone stay organized and focused. The dry erase markers are used regularly during group activities and review games, and the added pest repellent has genuinely helped reduce distractions from bugs, especially mosquitoes, which had been a recurring issue in our warm environment.\r\n\r\nThis year, my Integrated Science course used the windmill energy transfer kit to solve a problem for their chosen community. It was apparent that the students thoroughly enjoyed building and learning through kinesthetic mechanisms. The students are excited to dive into more engaging science experiments thanks to the Strawberry DNA Extraction Kit and the Household Acids and Bases Kit. Due to its delivery timing, were were unable to do the experiments, but plan to this coming school year. These hands-on activities will make abstract science concepts more concrete and exciting for my English language learners. We will build on this curiosity, as students begin designing their own simple experiments and collecting data.
