What can often feel stressful became an experience filled with excitement, confidence, and encouragement.\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the students were immediately excited. When they saw the baseball pencils, bracelets, and stress balls, they instantly connected it to our testing theme.\r\nOn testing days, each student received their special \"World Series gear.\" The baseball stress balls were especially helpful for easing nervous energy. The bracelets and pencils made the day feel special and celebratory rather than intimidating. The snacks made a significant difference in stamina and morale. Having goldfish, breakfast bars, Pop-Tarts, cookies, Pringles, and juice ensured that every student had fuel during long testing sessions. The organizational supplies helped students feel prepared and confident. There is something powerful about students feeling organized and ready. That preparation translated directly into a calmer testing environment.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful experiences was decorating the white baseball caps. Students used paint to design hats with motivational phrases. Watching them create positive affirmations and then proudly wear their hats during our morning pep talks was incredibly special. \r\nAfter long hours of computer-based testing, the art supplies, slime materials, and resin animals provided a much needed opportunity to decompress. The headphones ensured that students could complete audio components of the test without distraction, supporting both focus and equity.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project strengthened our classroom culture. Students truly embraced the \"World Series mindset.\" Testing became something they felt prepared for, not afraid of.","fullyFundedDate":1771700370551,"projectUrl":"project/stepping-up-to-the-plate-for-state-testi/10103359/","projectTitle":"Stepping Up to the Plate for State Testing Success!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carreira","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8092294"},{"teacherId":8824228,"projectId":10108222,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom. Because of your kindness, my students have been able to use these new resources in meaningful and exciting ways. We recently used them during a classroom project where students worked together to apply their learning in a hands-on activity, and it was incredible to see their engagement and enthusiasm grow. One special moment was watching students light up as they explored the materials for the first time and immediately began sharing ideas, asking questions, and diving into the lesson with confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were thrilled. Their faces showed pure excitement, and they couldn't wait to get started. Having access to these resources made them feel valued and inspired, and it created a fresh energy in our classroom. Your generosity has not only provided tools for learning, but also encouraged curiosity, creativity, and collaboration among my students.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these resources will continue to play an important role in our current lessons and upcoming projects. My 3 ambulatory students in my special needs classroom are often in constant motion and have high sensory needs. We have had no equipment in the classroom over the last few years, to address that need. One student loves getting in the freestanding cocoon swing and swinging. The swing is held to the frame by a single bolt from the top of the swing, so it also spins while it swings, from the movement of the student inside the swing, shifting his weight. This causes the swing to swing and turn on its own, without staff assistance, giving my student the ability to address his restlessness without having to wait for a staff member to help him. He usually gets in the swing on his own, once to three times a day. This gives him very needed gross motor movement as a break from sedentary desk work.\r\n\r\nThe spinning chair/dish has also been great because my student loves the back and forth movement of it. We keep it under his desk, because when he is doing deskwork, he puts his feet on it and moves it back and forth. This enables him to keep his upper body stationary enough to do his deskwork and stay focused on being taught academics! When he's not doing academic work, he will pull it out from under the desk and lie on it and move himself back and forth. It is only inches off the ground, so it is super safe. \r\n\r\nIn the photo you will see the room divider you funded, blocking the sight of the TV at the front of the classroom which is showing academic videos to my other students, from my student working with staff at his desk. This is morning and afternoon to help my students remain focused on being taught when at their desk.","fullyFundedDate":1771787387278,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-furniture-for-special-needs-stud/10111394/","projectTitle":"Sensory Furniture for Special Needs Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Guenn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7942310_orig.jpg?crop=1104,1104,x49,y118&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1665793166510","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7942310"},{"teacherId":8823695,"projectId":10107113,"letterContent":"My students have been using the butterfly kit to observe the complete life cycle of butterflies—from eggs to caterpillars to chrysalises to butterflies.
