Students carefully budgeted their bucks, discussed who they were shopping for, and thoughtfully selected items they felt their loved ones would truly enjoy. One especially meaningful moment was watching students quietly plan how to surprise parents or siblings, proudly tying gift bags and reminding one another to keep the gifts secret. This experience allowed students to put our 3 C's—especially Care for Others—into action in a real and powerful way.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the Holiday Store fully stocked, their excitement was immediate and heartfelt. Many couldn't believe they were able to purchase gifts on their own, and several shared how special it felt to give instead of receive. The room was filled with smiles, careful decision-making, and genuine pride as students realized they had earned this opportunity through positive behavior and responsibility. The donated materials made the store feel authentic and festive, which helped make the experience even more meaningful for our students.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue earning and using Maikaʻi Bucks as part of our ongoing positive behavior program, reinforcing responsible choices and community values. We will also build on this experience by reflecting on goal-setting, budgeting, and gratitude through classroom discussions and writing activities. Because of you, our students learned that their actions can bring joy to others—and that lesson will stay with them far beyond the holiday season.","fullyFundedDate":1759453688140,"projectUrl":"project/be-a-santa-donate-for-our-holiday-store/9776241/","projectTitle":"Be a Santa: Donate for Our Holiday Store","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sunagawa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10294295"},{"teacherId":8818977,"projectId":9774823,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous support of our DonorsChoose project. Your generosity turned our classroom into a hands-on science lab and sparked curiosity in every student.\r\n\r\nWe are currently growing Akiohala, a native Hawaiian hibiscus. Students began with small sprouts and have been caring for them each day. This project has helped them build real-world science skills like observation, data collection, and responsibility.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue nurturing the plants until they are strong enough to be taken home and planted in students' yards.
