Although middle schoolers aren't always easy to impress, their eyes lit up the moment they saw the Cannonball Drop and the push cart loaded with the rest of the items. Students quickly gathered around and comments like \"do we get to use these in our class?\" and \"I want to try,\" and \"let's test it out\" were just a few that I could recall. This had changed the energy in our classroom, from just a regular school day to one of anticipation and the eagerness to begin planning, testing, and working together to put on their next event.\r\n\r\nFast forward, students were able to plan and execute a fun SBA ramp-up assembly where they used the six-legged race bands to coordinate a fun and engaging relay. They organized teams- pitting each grade level against a team of teachers and managed a crazy relay where racers had to sync their movements, pause at cones to pick up a ball, and toss it to a teammate on the baseline who was wearing giant \"granny pants.\" The leadership students ran the event beautifully, and the entire school erupted in laughter, completely easing texting anxiety.","fullyFundedDate":1771702321361,"projectUrl":"project/helping-to-build-our-future-leaders/10108714/","projectTitle":"Helping to Build our Future Leaders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tom","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7824070"},{"teacherId":10351829,"projectId":10106221,"letterContent":"The addition of this iPad has fundamentally shifted the way my students interact with the world beyond our classroom walls. In our \"Travel the World\" elective, we use this technology to move beyond static images in a textbook and instead engage with immersive, virtual explorations of global landmarks and diverse cultures. By integrating this tool into our daily lessons, students can visualize complex geography and ancient civilizations in a way that feels immediate and real. This technology serves as a vital bridge, allowing us to \"travel\" to distant continents and gain a deeper understanding of the global community from the safety and comfort of our own desks.\r\n\r\nThe excitement in the room was palpable when the packages arrived, especially for the students who find traditional seat-work challenging. While the iPad provides the \"wow\" factor for our virtual tours, the fidgets and small rewards have been equally transformative for our classroom focus. I have noticed a significant change in several students who previously struggled with restlessness; having a tactile tool to keep their hands busy has allowed them to stay grounded and engaged during our longer discussions. My students are most thrilled by the incentive system we've established, where their curiosity and hard work are celebrated with small treats. This combination of high-tech exploration and sensory support has created a classroom environment where every student feels equipped and motivated to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1771696372024,"projectUrl":"project/exploring-the-world-from-our-desks/10106221/","projectTitle":"Exploring the World from Our Desks","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dasia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10351829"},{"teacherId":9344699,"projectId":10108573,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for bringing our classroom project to life! Your generosity has truly transformed our daily routines. Before your gift arrived, our transitions between activities were chaotic and disorganized. Today, our classroom is a streamlined, productive hub of rotating learning centers where every student feels a sense of ownership, confidence, and accountability.\r\nWith the materials you provided, we were able to implement color-coded organizational systems to differentiate reading levels and task complexities. Because of this, students can grab exactly what they need without feeling \"labeled\" by their peers, keeping their confidence high while meeting them exactly where they are academically.\r\nHere is a look at how your specific gifts are making an impact every day:\r\nKraft Journals (The Kilo Practice): We have used these beautiful journals to practice Kilo, a traditional Hawaiian practice of silent observation of nature. This has become a powerful Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) routine. For our advanced learners, it has significantly increased their use of sensory language and mindfulness in their writing.\r\nDry Erase Markers & Erasers (Student-Centered Stations): Kids love whiteboards! We used these to run student-centered stations where students \"translated\" modern slang into formal language, creating their own translation charts. The novelty of using dry erase markers instantly boosted group participation and collaboration.\r\nAny time kids can use a whiteboard, engagement skyrockets. Your gift didn't just buy markers and journals; it bought focus, enthusiasm, and a calm environment where my students can truly thrive.\r\nThank you for investing in our classroom, fostering accountability, and giving my students the organized, creative space they deserve. Originally I had planned on trying to teach one of my classes to 3d sculpt to show the innovations in the space, and have then get their hands on some real innovative and free software. However what fell in our lap was a project that they fell in love with even more. Out of the 120 or so 8th graders I have, a good sized delegation of them happen to be in leadership; whom were tasked with coming up with awards to be given out at this year's banquet.\r\nThey preceded to throw around ideas such as purchasing plaques and trophies, but that proved cost prohibitive. Then they discussed homemade goods such as leis and lanyards, but they weren't sold. Once I threw the idea of 3d printing into the ring they were off to the races.\r\n\"What about printing hats?\" \"What about printing chains?\" The ideas were ping ponging every which way, and they ended up with the idea of symbolic icons to print for each of the categories. Since we were pressed for time I lead them in the direction of royalty free assets, which lead into a beautiful lesson about fair use, and them being able to, as a group decide on what items would best fit for the categories chosen for the awards. All in all, the kids were able to receive not only a relevant lesson in STEM and Digital Ethics, but they ended up creating things that they were proud of, and happy to adorn their classmates with. So while we didn't get to use our funded item for EXACTLY what we had originally planned, it sparked a flame for something I plan to have be a yearly tradition.","fullyFundedDate":1769131509673,"projectUrl":"project/8th-grade-3d-sculpture/10042877/","projectTitle":"8th-grade 3D Sculpture","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Angelo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10413016"},{"teacherId":9676968,"projectId":10107155,"letterContent":"When the materials for our new relaxing and refocusing space arrived, my students were immediately curious and excited. The moment the area was set up, students began gravitating toward it—some eager to try the new seating, others quietly settling in with a book. \r\n\r\nWe've already woven the space into our daily routines. Students use it to take mindful breaks, read independently, or reset when they need a moment away from the group. During a recent literacy block, a student who was feeling overwhelmed asked to use the space, spent a few minutes reading in the calm corner, and returned ready to rejoin the class with renewed focus. Moments like this show how powerful a dedicated, peaceful environment can be for emotional regulation and academic readiness.\r\n\r\nNext, we're helping students learn how to independently choose the right tools—books, sensory items, or quiet reflection prompts—to support their self‑regulation. As they continue using the space, they're building lifelong skills in recognizing their needs, advocating for themselves, and returning to learning with confidence.
