The clipboards and highlighters quickly became staples in our daily lessons. Students now love moving around the room to work in groups or find a cozy spot to focus independently, and the highlighters have been a powerful tool for practicing close reading and pulling out key ideas from our texts. One of my favorite moments was during a collaborative reading activity: students eagerly highlighted important passages and then shared their findings with their peers, showing a new level of engagement and confidence in their learning.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the year, students are beginning to collect their writing pieces in preparation for our end-of-year book project. The idea of binding their essays and stories into professional-looking books has given them extra motivation to refine their writing and take pride in their work. We are looking forward to celebrating their growth with keepsakes they will treasure for years to come, and your support has made this meaningful tradition possible.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for making these experiences a reality. Having options gives them the freedom to engage in learning in creative and meaningful ways. It has created a welcoming environment where students are more willing to collaborate and take part in discussions.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible for my students. With the document camera, for example, I can project a book, math problem, or student work so the entire class can follow along step by step. This allows students to see strategies in action and then try them out with confidence.\r\n\r\nWhat excites the students most is the way they can all \"see what the teacher sees\" at the same time. They love when their own work is shown as an example—it makes them feel proud and valued. One student who normally struggles to stay engaged in reading has especially warmed to the new setup. Since receiving our inclusive and sensory-friendly books, we've built daily routines that help our students not only strengthen literacy skills, but also recognize emotions, celebrate differences, and feel empowered.\r\n\r\nThe A Little SPOT of Feelings books and plushies are now part of our morning emotional check-ins and calm-down time. Each student created their own \"feeling hand\" with a green dot on the thumb and red dots on the fingers; a tool we now use daily to identify emotions, choose calming strategies, and ask for help. This has provided students with a visual and tactile way to express themselves in a safe and supportive manner.\r\n\r\nAll My Stripes has been, and continues to be, a powerful tool in showing our students how individual, intelligent, and special each of them is. We use it often to remind them that their unique strengths make them who they are. It's opened the door for meaningful lessons on identity, confidence, and acceptance.\r\n\r\nBooks like Since We're Friends, the Inclusive Learning set, and Rosie's Rules have brought joy, representation, and connection to our read-alouds. The Stacey Abrams series has become a class favorite, inspiring students to find their voice and take pride in who they are.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our students now have books that reflect who they are, how they feel, and all the beautiful ways they learn and shine. Each item was something they could immediately connect with—whether it was the kinetic sand, the raised garden beds, or the butterfly kits. For students in my K–3 self-contained ASD classroom, new materials aren't just supplies—they're tools for expression, exploration, and growth.\r\n\r\nWe introduced the Step2 Rain Showers Splash Pond Water Table during our first week of sensory exploration. The students were captivated by the movement of water and the feeling of scooping, pouring, and watching the flow. It turned into a natural opportunity for communication—students used picture cards and gestures to take turns, request tools, and describe what they were doing. One student, who often struggles to initiate interaction, asked for \"more water\" using his AAC device—something he had never done before.\r\n\r\nThe Kinetic Sand and shaving cream have become part of our daily sensory stations. These materials help students build fine motor skills and regulate their sensory systems. Several students now choose to start their day with these calming activities to ease the transition into classroom routines.\r\n\r\nOur raised garden beds are now filled with sprouting green beans and marigolds! Planting seeds was part of a project-based science lesson on life cycles, and each student had a chance to dig, plant, and water their own space. It's been a powerful way to teach responsibility and observation skills. Our next step? We're integrating the butterfly kits into a full unit on metamorphosis. Students will document each stage, draw what they see, and use sequencing visuals to track changes—giving them both language practice and a real-world connection to science.\r\n\r\nThis project has brought joy, curiosity, and meaningful learning to our classroom. From designing name tags to printing parts for STEM projects, the 3D printer has become a centerpiece of engagement in our room.\r\n\r\nWhat excites the students most is seeing their digital ideas come to life right before their eyes.
